Tennis Courts

Hi Friends,

We are coming to Estes Park on 7/12 for a week. Daughter is a tennis player.

Are there any free tennis courts and what are the rules of booking? Are there any paid tennis courts and what are the rules of booking?

Staying at Murphy Lodge close to the downtown.

Please, advise.

Thank you!

Estes Park offers a variety of tennis options for both casual and more serious players, with both free public courts and some paid facilities. Since you’ll be staying at Murphy Lodge near downtown, you have easy access to several courts.

Free Public Tennis Courts:

  • Stanley Park Tennis Courts: Located near downtown Estes Park, these are well-maintained outdoor courts open to the public. No fee is required, and you can generally use them on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Bond Park Tennis Courts: Another public option, typically free, with multiple courts available. Again, usage is mostly first-come, first-served.
  • Riverview Park Courts: Smaller set of public courts, free to use. Good for a quick practice session or casual match.

Rules for public courts generally include:

  • No reservations; courts are first-come, first-served.
  • Time limits may apply during busy periods (often 1 hour if others are waiting).
  • Bring your own tennis balls and racquets.
  • Courts are outdoor, so check weather conditions.

Paid Tennis Options / Clubs:

  • Estes Park Golf & Tennis Club: Offers indoor and outdoor courts. Court reservations are possible, and a fee is typically charged per hour. Some lessons and clinics may also be available.
  • Local Resorts or Lodges: Some hotels and resorts in Estes Park offer private tennis courts to guests or for a fee. Availability and pricing vary, so it’s best to call ahead.

Tips:

  • If your daughter wants uninterrupted practice time, paid courts are a safer bet since public courts can be busy, especially in mid-July.
  • Arrive early at free courts to secure a spot, particularly during peak morning or late afternoon hours.
  • Check the Estes Park Town Parks website or call the local Parks & Recreation office for current rules, any closures, and updated court conditions.

Overall, staying near downtown gives you convenient access to both free and paid courts, making it easy to balance casual play and more structured practice.
