E-bike rental

Thinking of renting e-bikes from Acadia Bike rentals. It looks close to our hotel and then it’s a 1.7 mile ride to get in Acadia National Park

Is there a map or a recommended route to go? I would like to plan it out ahead of time

It’s 4 adults

Thanks. Any input appreciated

Renting e-bikes from Acadia Bike Rentals sounds like a fantastic way to explore Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park! The area offers some of the best views and cycling paths, and an e-bike will make it easier to cover more ground. Here's some helpful information to plan your ride:

Route & Map Recommendations:

Acadia National Park is known for its excellent network of carriage roads that are perfect for biking. From Acadia Bike Rentals, you’ll head towards the park entrance, and it’s relatively easy to get started from there. Here's what I recommend:

  • Start from Acadia Bike Rentals: After picking up your bikes, it’s just a 1.7-mile ride into the park entrance. This should be a pleasant warm-up before heading into the park proper.
  • Carriage Roads: Acadia's historic carriage roads are a top pick for bikers and are not open to motorized vehicles, which means you can ride in relative peace. The most popular route is around the Jordan Pond area, which is a beautiful 6-mile loop. You can also consider the Eagle Lake loop if you’re looking for something longer (about 10 miles).
  • Recommended Route: A popular and scenic route for bikers is the loop around Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake. From the entrance, you can cycle along the carriage roads, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and enjoy the scenery. If you want something a bit more challenging, you could venture to Cadillac Mountain Summit Road, but be aware that it’s steeper and more difficult.
  • Map: Acadia National Park offers bike maps, and Acadia Bike Rentals will likely provide you with a map when you rent your bikes. You can also view digital maps online, and many bike rental shops have route suggestions for visitors.

Other Considerations:

  • Terrain: The carriage roads are well-maintained, but there are still some hilly sections. E-bikes will make it much easier to navigate these, but be prepared for some uphill pedaling in certain areas.
  • Time of Day: If you’re looking to avoid crowds, it’s best to start early in the morning or later in the afternoon, especially around popular spots like Jordan Pond.
  • Weather: Keep an eye on the weather as it can change quickly in the area. Having a light jacket and sunscreen is always a good idea.

In general, renting e-bikes and exploring Acadia this way will allow you to see the best of the park while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. It’s a great option for visitors looking for an active yet leisurely way to enjoy the park. Let me know if you need more specific route info or other recommendations!
