A fire started this morning near Kahikinui near Mile marker 24non the back road to Hana

As of 4:30 this afternoon the winds have fueled the fire . The fire is now 200 acres.

30 to 40 homes have been evacuated. Red Cross set up grandmas coffee House for evacuees. Now the evacuees are moving to the King Kaukalike school and are advised to bring a chair. The American Red Cross has set up in the school. Maui does not have any fully stocked evacuation centers with beds, food , back up power or medical office.

The big winds are fuelling the fire so: Goodfellows Construction Alpha, , Haleakala Ranch and private citizens are assisting the 6 fire departments, and the police.

The Chinook aircraft has not been sent from Oahu’s National Guard to assist.

Some Upcountry roads are closed.

The wind is a big factor in this fire.

There are reports of smoke reaching Wailea.
