Budget hotel Anchorage

Hi

I arrive 1 day earlier than start of my cruise from Whittier. Can anyone recommend a budget hotel in Anchorage for one night/

My flight will arrive around 4PM and then I have to go to Whittier for my cruise. Planning to take the Bus but have not booked it yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

For a one-night stay in Anchorage on a budget before your cruise from Whittier, there are several convenient and reasonably priced options. Since your flight arrives around 4 PM and you plan to take the bus to Whittier, staying near downtown Anchorage or close to the airport will make your transfer easier.

Budget-friendly hotel options include:

  • Alex Hotel – Very popular with travelers needing a short stay before a cruise. Offers free airport shuttle and has a fish cooler if needed. Centrally located, clean, and modern.
  • Travelodge by Wyndham Anchorage – Affordable and comfortable, located near downtown, with easy access to buses heading to Whittier.
  • Lakefront Anchorage – Slightly higher end but often has good deals. Located by the lake with scenic views, convenient for a short stay before the cruise.
  • Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Anchorage Airport – Very close to the airport, budget-friendly, and convenient for early morning bus connections to Whittier.
  • Comfort Inn & Suites – Another airport-adjacent option, comfortable for one night and well-priced.

Additional tips:

  • Book the bus to Whittier in advance as seats can fill quickly, especially during cruise season.
  • Consider proximity to restaurants or cafes if you arrive late and want a quick dinner.
  • If you have luggage, check whether the hotel provides short-term storage in case your cruise departure is early in the morning.

Overall, for a short overnight stay, staying near the airport or downtown is the most practical. Alex Hotel is often the top choice for cruise travelers due to its shuttle service and location, but any of the above options will work well for one night.
