Logan Square Advice

I have taken the Blue Line to Wicker Park a few times and was thinking about Logan Square when I am in the city next week. Can anyone recommend one of the best areas of the square that's not too far from the train station?

Thanks.

Logan Square is one of Chicago’s trendiest and most walkable neighborhoods, known for its historic boulevards, vibrant dining scene, and lively arts community. It’s a great choice if you want a less touristy feel compared to Wicker Park while still being easily accessible by public transit via the Blue Line.

The heart of Logan Square revolves around the intersection of Logan Boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue. This area is filled with restaurants, cafes, bars, and boutiques and is only a short walk from the Logan Square Blue Line station. Staying or spending time near this hub gives you easy access to the train while being immersed in the neighborhood’s character.

Here are the best areas of Logan Square to consider:

  • Logan Boulevard & Milwaukee Avenue intersection: Central and bustling, perfect for dining, nightlife, and short walks. Only about 5–10 minutes on foot from the Blue Line station.
  • Near Palmer Square Park: Quiet residential blocks with beautiful greystones and tree-lined streets, but still within a 10–15 minute walk of the train. Good balance of peaceful streets and nearby amenities.
  • Kimball Avenue corridor: A few blocks west of the main square, residential but close enough for dining and bars. Often has less foot traffic, more local charm, and easy access to the station.

Other helpful tips:

  • Logan Square has a very walkable layout. Most areas near the boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue are safe and active, especially during daytime and early evening.
  • If you’re into coffee shops and brunch spots, consider walking along Milwaukee Avenue toward Logan Square station — it’s full of popular spots frequented by locals.
  • The historic boulevards are ideal for morning strolls or photography if you enjoy tree-lined streets and old architecture.

In summary, staying or spending time near the intersection of Logan Boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue is the most convenient for access to the Blue Line while still experiencing the lively culture, food, and nightlife of Logan Square. Palmer Square Park and nearby residential streets offer a quieter alternative without sacrificing walkability to the train.
