Photos for China visa

We are from USA. When applying China Visa, we uploaded our photos. At the end of the application, there is no instructions that say we need ti bring physical copies of our photos. But, ChatGPT says bring 2 copies of photos?

For U.S. citizens applying for a Chinese visa, the photo requirements depend on whether you are submitting the application online through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) or in person. Since you mentioned that you uploaded your photos with the application, it is likely an online submission. In many cases, if the online system accepts the uploaded digital photo, physical copies are not strictly required for the initial submission.

However, it is generally recommended to bring at least two physical passport-style photos when you go to submit your application or collect your visa. This is because:

  • Some visa centers or consulates may still require physical photos for verification purposes, even if you uploaded them online.
  • If there is any issue with your uploaded photo (size, format, quality), having physical copies allows for quick replacement.
  • It can help avoid delays if additional documentation is requested at the visa center.

Practical advice:

  • Bring two recent 2-inch x 2-inch passport photos with a white background, as specified by the CVASC guidelines.
  • Even if the instructions do not explicitly mention physical copies, having them on hand is a precaution that can save time.
  • Ensure your photos meet all China visa photo requirements: neutral expression, no hats or sunglasses, face fully visible.

In summary, while the online system may not require you to submit physical photos, bringing two copies is a recommended precaution to avoid any potential issues at the visa center. It is a common practice among travelers applying for a China visa from the U.S.
