Socal Beachfront Hotels & Resorts

I am looking for a hotel within 1.5 hours of LAX (driving on a Tuesday but not sure what time of day yet). I'm looking for:

-heated pool

-poolside food/beverage service (OR a hotel with a beachside bar or restaurant- basically just want to be able to have food at the pool)

-Close Beach access (ideally beachfront)

-Beach chair and umbrella rentals

-Under $600 a night in October

-High cleanliness ratings/reviews

-room service (nice to have but not a must)

Any recommendations?

For a Southern California beachfront hotel within 1.5 hours of LAX that meets your criteria—heated pool, poolside food or beachside bar/restaurant, close beach access, chair and umbrella rentals, high cleanliness ratings, and under $600 a night in October—there are several solid options. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Shore Hotel, Santa Monica: Located right on Santa Monica Beach, the Shore Hotel offers direct beach access and eco-friendly modern rooms. The hotel features a heated pool with poolside service, beach chair and umbrella rentals through the concierge, and highly rated cleanliness. Room service is available. Rates in October are often under $600.
  • Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel: A luxury beachfront hotel with a heated pool, ocean-view poolside dining, and full-service restaurant. Beach chair and umbrella rentals are available. Cleanliness and service reviews are excellent. October rates may hover near your budget limit but are usually manageable.
  • Hotel Casa del Mar, Santa Monica: A classic beachfront resort with a heated pool, poolside bar and restaurant, beach access, and chair/umbrella rentals. Rooms are spacious and well-reviewed for cleanliness. October rates can be slightly above $500–$600 depending on room type.
  • Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa: Located on Huntington Beach, this hotel has a heated pool, poolside food and beverage service, direct beach access, and beach chair rentals. Cleanliness reviews are high, and room service is available. Rates in October generally fall under $600.
  • Paséa Hotel & Spa, Huntington Beach: A modern beachfront hotel with a heated pool, poolside bar, ocean-view dining, beach access, and umbrella/chair rentals. Spa services are available. Rooms are clean and stylish, with October rates typically within your budget.

Additional tips:

  • Booking mid-week in October can help you stay under $600 per night, as weekends may be more expensive.
  • Check if the hotel offers packages that include beach chair and umbrella rentals, which can save time and money.
  • Confirm pool heating with the hotel, as not all outdoor pools are heated year-round, even in Southern California.
  • For food, verify which options are available poolside vs. room service or nearby beachside dining.

In summary, Shore Hotel and Loews Santa Monica provide excellent Santa Monica beachfront experiences with heated pools and poolside dining. For a slightly longer drive toward Orange County, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach and Paséa Hotel & Spa offer similar amenities with beachfront access and poolside service, all typically under your $600 budget in October.
