San Francisco Hotel close to BART

Hello,

First trip to San Francisco in over 50 years...looking forward to the changes! Flying into Oakland airport, I understand I can take BART into the city from there. Looking for a reasonably priced hotel option within easy walking distance of a Bart station in a good area.

Also hoping to see a Giants game. Also served by Bart?

Thanks in advance for any help/info/advice.

San Francisco has a convenient BART system that connects Oakland Airport (OAK) directly to downtown San Francisco, making it easy to stay near a BART station and explore the city without a car. Choosing a hotel within walking distance of a BART station can save time and make getting around the city straightforward.

Here are some recommendations for reasonably priced hotels near BART stations in good areas:

  • Hotel Zephyr: Located near the Embarcadero and Pier 39, this hotel is a short walk from the Embarcadero BART station. It's a fun, slightly quirky hotel with great waterfront views and easy access to tourist attractions.
  • Holiday Inn Express San Francisco-Golden Gateway: Near the Powell Street BART station, this hotel provides easy access to Union Square shopping and restaurants. Rooms are comfortable and rates are reasonable.
  • Courtyard by Marriott San Francisco Downtown: Also near Powell Street BART, offering clean, modern rooms with good amenities and a central location.
  • Hotel Union Square: A budget-friendly option within walking distance of Powell Street BART, offering simple accommodations and easy access to downtown attractions.

Regarding attending a Giants game at Oracle Park:

  • Yes, Oracle Park is conveniently served by BART. You can take BART to the Embarcadero station, which is just a short walk from the ballpark. This makes it easy to stay near any of the recommended hotels and get to the game without worrying about parking.
  • For a smooth experience, consider leaving the hotel about 1–1.5 hours before the game to allow for walking, security checks, and finding your seats.

Additional tips:

  • Booking a hotel early is recommended, as San Francisco can be busy, especially if your trip coincides with a Giants home game or other events.
  • Check whether the hotel charges extra for parking, as parking in San Francisco can be expensive and BART access reduces the need for a car.
  • If you plan to explore beyond downtown, BART also connects easily to neighborhoods like Mission, Castro, and Bayview, so staying near a central station offers flexibility.

Overall, staying near a Powell Street or Embarcadero BART station provides a convenient, central base for sightseeing, attending a Giants game, and accessing transportation to and from Oakland Airport.
