Current situation- GC village and Page

I am scheduled to be at Grand Canyon village and Page in two weeks. Is it still possible to visit these places?

This is not full itinerary, just the part in GC and Page. I am travelling with my husband and two kids (10 and 9). Could you please advise if any of this could be impacted? Many thanks.

Your upcoming visit to Grand Canyon Village and Page in mid-August is generally very feasible. Both areas are fully accessible, and most services and facilities are operational during this time of year. Given that you’re traveling with children, your itinerary is manageable with a mix of short walks, shuttle rides, and sightseeing.

For Grand Canyon Village:

  • Grand Canyon Visitor Center & Mather Point: Open daily, these are the primary starting points for first-time visitors. Expect crowds in the morning and midday.
  • Hopi House & Verkamp's Visitor Center: Both shops and cultural exhibits are open and make for quick, interesting stops.
  • Bright Angel Trail: Short walks down the trail are fine for kids. Avoid going too far in the heat; early morning is the best time to hike.
  • El Tovar Dining Room and Harvey House Café: Breakfast reservations should be honored. Arriving early for El Tovar is recommended to ensure smooth service.
  • Hermit’s Road Shuttle: The shuttle system should be fully operational in August, providing access to all major overlooks including Hermit’s Rest.
  • Kolb Studio, Lookout Studio, and El Tovar Hotel public areas: Open for casual exploration and photography.

For Page, AZ:

  • Horseshoe Bend: The trail is short and well-marked. Mornings or late afternoons are best to avoid heat and crowds.
  • Lower Antelope Canyon: Guided tours are required and run regularly. Make sure your reservations are confirmed in advance.

Traveling along Route 66 to Sedona is standard, with no closures expected. Standard precautions for summer travel apply: carry water, sunscreen, and snacks, especially when traveling with children. Traffic may be heavier around popular stops, so allow some flexibility in your schedule.

Overall, your itinerary should be largely unaffected, and all listed activities are open and accessible in mid-August. Advance reservations for dining and Antelope Canyon tours are strongly recommended to secure your spots.
