Airport to Fisherman’s Wharf

We want to be able to get to RIU Fisherman’s Wharf from the airport. We will be a family of 3 with 3 large suitcases. What approx price would be a taxi or uber which I feel would be the most convenient for quickness.

Traveling from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to the RIU Fisherman’s Wharf hotel is fairly straightforward. The distance is about 14 miles and typically takes 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. With a family of 3 and 3 large suitcases, both taxi and Uber/Lyft are convenient options, though ride-share apps may be slightly easier for handling luggage and paying electronically.

Taxi:

A standard San Francisco taxi from SFO to Fisherman’s Wharf usually costs around $50–$70, including airport fees and tip. Taxis in San Francisco have a flat airport pickup fee (around $4–$5) and additional per-mile and per-minute charges. Tipping 15–20% is customary. Most taxis can accommodate your luggage, but for 3 large suitcases, it may require a larger vehicle or requesting a minivan.

Uber/Lyft:

Uber or Lyft is a convenient alternative, especially if you prefer reserving a vehicle with more space for luggage. Pricing depends on the vehicle type:

  • UberX / Lyft standard: Approximately $45–$65 for the ride, similar to taxi pricing, suitable for 3 passengers with standard luggage.
  • UberXL / Lyft XL: Approximately $65–$85, recommended if you have 3 large suitcases or want more comfort.
  • Premium options (Uber Black / Lyft Lux): Around $85–$120, for a more spacious, luxury ride.

Other tips:

  • Check surge pricing times in the app, as early morning or peak hours may increase Uber/Lyft fares.
  • If your luggage is exceptionally large, consider requesting an UberXL or a taxi that can accommodate a minivan.
  • Traffic along US-101 or I-80 to Fisherman’s Wharf can vary, so allow extra time if you have a specific check-in or dinner reservation.

Overall, Uber or Lyft XL is likely the most convenient and flexible option for your family, while a taxi is a reliable alternative with fixed pricing and airport accessibility.
