Airport Flyer/Bus recent info?

I haven’t been to Miami Beach before and have to keep things as economical as possible. Traveling solo. I’ve searched for airport bus to/from Miami Beach and the most recent I’ve found is 5 years old. Is it still running? Same route n stops? Price?

I’m flying to/from FLL. I realize doing public transit would take much longer that uber but I can’t afford to blow $50+. If it takes 2 hours or less, I gotta go bus route.

Thx!

It’s great that you're looking for an affordable option to get to Miami Beach from Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)! Yes, the Airport Flyer bus is still running, and it’s one of the most economical ways to get between FLL and Miami Beach. Here’s the most up-to-date information:

Route and Stops: The Airport Flyer (Route 150) is operated by Miami-Dade Transit and runs between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami Beach. It runs along the following general route:

  • FLL to Miami Beach: The bus departs from FLL Airport, with stops in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, and then heads south to Miami Beach, with key stops at popular areas like the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Fontainebleau Hotel, and various other locations along Collins Avenue.
  • Frequency: The Airport Flyer runs about every 30 minutes during the day, with the first bus departing FLL early in the morning and the last bus leaving Miami Beach in the evening (roughly 9 PM). The service operates 7 days a week, so it’s pretty convenient for solo travelers.

Cost: The fare for the Airport Flyer is quite affordable:

  • One-way fare: $2.25 (as of the latest available info).
  • Payment: You can pay directly on the bus with a contactless payment card, or you can use a Miami-Dade Transit EASY Card or app to pay in advance. It’s a simple process, and the price is very reasonable compared to Uber or taxis, which can cost $50 or more.

Travel Time: The trip between FLL and Miami Beach typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Since the bus makes several stops, the travel time is a bit longer than taking an Uber, but it’s much more economical. If you're looking to save money and don’t mind the slightly longer journey, this is a great option. You’ll get to enjoy the ride without the stress of driving or spending too much on a taxi.

Overall Recommendation: If you’re traveling solo and need to keep costs low, the Airport Flyer bus is definitely the way to go. It’s reliable, affordable, and a great option for budget-conscious travelers. Just make sure to check the schedule ahead of time to confirm the latest departure times, as they can vary slightly depending on the day. Enjoy your trip to Miami Beach!
