Hotels with known interconnecting rooms

Hi, we’re spending 6 nights in Miami in August and there will be 4 of us with the kids being 17 and 11. We’re finding all in one room is difficult now (although last time we tried it there was 5 of us but as my son isn’t coming 4 might be a bit easier) so am looking at either a condo or interconnecting rooms. I’ve only found the Loews, surfcomber and the Hilton so far and both are really quite expensive. I prefer not a one bedroom suite as 6 nights on a bed settee isn’t the best for anyone.

I’m looking at south beach area, as we want to be able to walk to the beach and restaurants, unless someone can recommend a better area for us.

The condos I’ve found tend to be further north and the pools areas are small and not particularly nice the beach front hotel pools have much more of a wow factor.

Any ideas of a nice hotel with lovely pool area close to the beach where interconnecting rooms won’t cost a fortune or a condo with nice pool area?

Hi!

Finding interconnecting rooms or a condo in South Beach for a family of four in August can be challenging, as it’s peak season and many properties fill up fast. However, there are several options that balance location, pool quality, and cost while keeping you close to the beach and restaurants.

Hotels with interconnecting rooms in South Beach:

  • Loews Miami Beach: You already mentioned this one—it’s popular for families because interconnecting rooms are available, the pool is large and well-maintained, and it’s right on the beach. While pricey, sometimes booking directly or through package deals can lower the cost.
  • Hilton Bentley Miami/South Beach: Another hotel with interconnecting rooms, a beachfront location, and a pool with good views. Offers more moderate pricing if booked early.
  • Kimpton Surfcomber: Also on your list—stylish, beachfront, with an excellent pool area and potential for interconnecting rooms. Deals sometimes appear if booked directly or during promotions.
  • Royal Palm South Beach: Family-friendly with beachfront access, a large pool area, and known for accommodating interconnecting rooms. It’s often slightly cheaper than Loews or Surfcomber.
  • Carillon Miami Wellness Resort: Located at the northern end of South Beach/Miami Beach, they offer suites and interconnecting options with a great pool and beach access. Worth checking availability for family stays.

Condo-style alternatives near South Beach:

  • Ocean House Miami Beach: Close to mid-South Beach, beachfront condos with full kitchens and resort-style pool areas. Can be more economical than beachfront hotels, especially for 6 nights.
  • South Beach Condos / Surfside area: A little north of South Beach proper but offers larger condos with good pool facilities. Beach access is usually short walking distance. Pool areas are smaller than hotels, but condos give more living space and flexibility.
  • Ocean Surf Hotel & Suites: Not always full-service hotel luxury, but offers interconnecting suites and beach access at a lower cost than premium hotels.

Tips to find the best option:

  • Call hotels directly and ask specifically for interconnecting rooms—sometimes availability isn’t shown online but they can accommodate requests.
  • Book as early as possible, especially for August, as family-friendly rooms fill quickly.
  • Consider booking two smaller rooms close together if interconnecting isn’t available—sometimes adjacent rooms work well for families.
  • Check for promotions, package deals, or member discounts on hotel websites; sometimes pools with a “wow factor” come included in deals that make it more affordable than standard rates.

In summary, for South Beach, hotels like Loews, Surfcomber, Hilton Bentley, and Royal Palm are your best bets for interconnecting rooms and impressive pools near the beach. If willing to go slightly north, condos such as Ocean House or Surfside options give you more space and flexible sleeping arrangements while still offering pool access and reasonable beach proximity.
