Local bus 292 SFO to Bay Landing hotel

We Land 9.30pm and the last free hotel shuttle bus is around 10.50pm .

Assuming we miss it Bus 292 looks like an option , goes via Milbrae then just outside the hotel maybe 1-2 minute walk. Is it safe that time of night .

Last option is uber but looking at $25-40 for a 5 minute journey .

thanks

Bus 292 is part of the SamTrans system connecting SFO to points south including Millbrae and nearby hotels. Traveling at around 11pm is generally considered safe, as the route goes through well-lit, populated areas and the bus itself will likely have other passengers. That said, it’s always wise to exercise standard nighttime precautions.

Here are some considerations and tips:

  • Bus 292 runs roughly every 30–60 minutes at night, so check the latest schedule to avoid long waits.
  • Boarding at SFO is straightforward; there are clear SamTrans signs and the bus stop is well-lit.
  • Once you get off at Bay Landing, it should be just a 1–2 minute walk to your hotel. Stick to well-lit sidewalks and main entrances to feel safer.
  • Keep your phone handy, and if possible, share your location with someone for added peace of mind.

Alternative options:

  • Uber/Lyft: Provides a direct and convenient option, usually around $25–$40 for a 5-minute ride. You’ll be indoors and secure from the moment you leave the airport.
  • Hotel Shuttle: If you can make the 10:50pm shuttle, that’s ideal for safety and convenience, but missing it doesn’t pose a significant risk.

Overall, Bus 292 is considered reasonably safe at that hour, especially compared to walking alone or taking streets without lighting. For ultimate convenience and minimal stress, a ride-share is the simplest option, but if you prefer public transit, the bus should serve you well with just a short walk at the end.
