One night, hotel and dinner restaurant ideas please
My husband and I are looking for the best place to relax in comfort over night between legs of a long trip back from Asia. Maybe in the $300/night range. We definitely want an airport/hotel shuttle. We will probably be tired.
We arrive from Shanghai to LAX @ 1:55PM on a Thursday in October, and depart for home at 12:45 PM the next day. I don’t think we’ll have time to do sightseeing, but we’d like to have dinner at a good restaurant.
I’m also posting in the state forum and in the San Francisco forum for a stay on our outbound trip.
You all have been so helpful in the past, I’m hoping that you’ll have good suggestions for me now too.
Thanks so much,
Teri
For a one-night stay near LAX after a long international flight, comfort, convenience, and ease of access are key. Since you’ll likely be tired, a hotel with an airport shuttle and a good on-site or nearby restaurant is ideal. Here are some options:
- Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport – A full-service hotel directly adjacent to LAX with a reliable airport shuttle. Rooms are spacious and quiet, and the on-site restaurant offers a good dinner and breakfast, making it convenient after your flight.
- Hilton Los Angeles Airport – Another solid choice with shuttle service, comfortable rooms, and an on-site restaurant for a relaxing dinner. Their rooms often have nice views of the city or airport runways, and the hotel provides easy access to taxis or ride-shares if needed.
- Courtyard by Marriott LAX – Modern rooms with shuttle service and an on-site bistro for dinner and breakfast. A smaller, more relaxed atmosphere than the larger resorts, good for a restful night.
- Residence Inn by Marriott LAX – If you prefer a suite-style room with extra space and a kitchenette, this is a good choice. Shuttle service is included, and the hotel offers complimentary breakfast.
For dinner near your hotel if you want to venture out:
- Truxton’s American Bistro – Casual, approachable menu, about 10 minutes from LAX by taxi or ride-share.
- The Proud Bird – Aviation-themed dining complex near the airport with multiple options under one roof. Fun for a relaxed evening without worrying about transportation.
- Aliki’s Greek Taverna – Mediterranean cuisine, about 10–15 minutes away, offering lighter fare if you’re not very hungry after your flight.
For breakfast before your departure:
- Most of the hotels provide either buffet or à la carte options included in your stay or for an additional fee.
- If you prefer stepping out, Westchester Bakery & Cafe offers coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches a short ride from the hotels.
Tips:
- Confirm the hotel shuttle schedule for both arrival and early departure times to avoid delays.
- Request a room on the side away from the runways if you are sensitive to noise.
- Consider making a dinner reservation in advance if planning to eat at a popular spot to minimize waiting.
These options provide a stress-free, comfortable overnight stay near LAX with easy dining options, perfect for recovering from a long international flight and preparing for your onward journey.
