Reminder:

Note: 17-Mile Drive will be closed to general tourist traffic on Saturday and Sunday of Concours weekend. Only residents, guests of residents, and attendees of Pebble Beach events will be allowed access through the gates to 17-Mile Drive.

For visitors planning to drive 17-Mile Drive in Monterey County during the weekend of August 16-17, 2025, it’s important to note that access will be restricted due to the Concours d’Elegance events at Pebble Beach.

On these dates, 17-Mile Drive will be closed to general tourist traffic. Only the following groups will be permitted to enter through the gates:

  • Residents living along 17-Mile Drive.
  • Guests of residents.
  • Attendees of official Pebble Beach events, including Concours d’Elegance participants and ticket holders.

If you are planning to visit the area as a tourist or for casual sightseeing during this weekend, you will need to make alternative plans, as standard access to the scenic drive will not be available.

Some alternatives include:

  • Visiting nearby coastal parks and beaches such as Carmel Beach, Garrapata State Park, or Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.
  • Exploring downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea for shopping, galleries, and dining.
  • Driving portions of the Pacific Coast Highway along Highway 1 outside the 17-Mile Drive gates to enjoy coastal views.

In summary, plan ahead and do not rely on accessing 17-Mile Drive as a tourist during August 16-17, 2025, unless you fall into one of the permitted categories.
