Night travel

Does anyone know if there would be an overnight train or bus from beijing to zhangjiajie?

Ive seen an early morning flight and a train that goes through the day but i was hoping for one overnight.

Any help is appreciated.

Currently, there are no direct overnight trains from Beijing to Zhangjiajie. Most high-speed trains and conventional trains from Beijing travel during the daytime, with durations ranging from approximately 14 to 18 hours, often requiring a transfer in Changsha or other major hubs.

If you prefer overnight travel, you do have a few alternative options:

  • Flight + bus option: You can take an early morning or late evening flight from Beijing to Changsha Huanghua Airport, then transfer by bus or train to Zhangjiajie. Flights are around 3 hours, and the bus/train transfer from Changsha to Zhangjiajie is about 4–5 hours.
  • Day train with sleeper option: Some trains from Beijing to Changsha offer soft sleeper or hard sleeper berths in the evening, which can make part of the journey overnight. From Changsha, you would transfer to another train or bus to reach Zhangjiajie.
  • Direct bus (not recommended for comfort): While buses exist connecting Beijing to Hunan province, a direct overnight bus to Zhangjiajie would be extremely long (over 24 hours) and is generally not practical for most travelers.

Overall, the most efficient overnight strategy is to break the journey with an overnight train or sleeper from Beijing to Changsha, then continue to Zhangjiajie the next day. This allows you to rest on the train while minimizing travel time.
