Antelope Canyons Hours

Hi everyone!

We plan to visit both Lower and Upper Antelope Canyons in late October (October 25th) this year.

My question is, how much time do you need between them?

My plan is as follows:

8:45 Lower tour. There is also 8:15 available, but I am afraid it would still be too early and too dark. What do you think?

We arrive at 8, start at 8:45, and finish around 10-10:15 am.

Then the Upper tour starts at 11:15.

So, we only have about 1 to 1.15 hours in between. I know the ride is short. And we need to be there 30-45 minutes before the tour.

Do you think this is manageable? Or should I pick the earlier tour for Lower Canyon? Will it be dark in the morning?

Thank you in advance!!!

Visiting both Lower and Upper Antelope Canyons in the same morning is definitely doable, but timing is tight and requires careful planning.

Morning light:

By late October, sunrise in Page is around 7:15–7:20 am. By 8:15 or 8:45 am, there is plenty of daylight for photography and walking, so you won’t have an issue with darkness inside the canyons. The light in the morning is softer and can create beautiful effects, though the famous "light beams" are more prominent closer to noon in Upper Canyon.

Time between tours:

Your schedule of finishing Lower Canyon around 10–10:15 am and needing to be at Upper Canyon by 11:15 am gives roughly an hour in between. Considering:

  • Drive between the Lower and Upper Canyon tour departure points is short (around 5–10 minutes).
  • Check-in for the Upper Canyon tour is recommended 30–45 minutes early.
  • You’ll have only minimal buffer time for restroom stops, quick snacks, or unforeseen delays.

Recommendation:

  • If you are comfortable with a tight schedule, the 8:45 Lower Canyon tour works fine. You will finish in time for Upper Canyon if you leave promptly.
  • If you prefer a more relaxed pace with extra buffer, consider the 8:15 Lower Canyon tour. This gives you 1.5 hours between the tours, easing any stress of rushing.

Other tips:

  • Both canyons are guided, so the pace inside is determined by the guides and group size.
  • Bring water, a light snack, and your camera gear ready so you can transition quickly between tours.
  • If photography is a priority, keep in mind that light beams in Upper Canyon are generally better closer to late morning, so your 11:15 am slot is quite good.

Overall, your current plan is manageable, but the earlier Lower Canyon tour provides a more relaxed experience. Darkness will not be an issue at either 8:15 or 8:45.
