Restaurant with robots?
Hi, We are travelling to Shanghai in a couple of weeks. We'd love to take our 9 year old to a restaurant with robots but I'm struggling to find anything? I'd really appreciate some help! Also, any other recommendations for anything tech crazy would be very much appreciated!
Shanghai is a fantastic city for tech-themed experiences, and there are a few restaurants and attractions where robots play a key role in dining or entertainment. For a 9-year-old, these can be both fun and educational.
For robot restaurants:
- Robot Restaurant at the Bund: Some restaurants in the Bund area feature robot waiters or automated food delivery systems. These restaurants often use conveyor belts or robotic arms to serve dishes directly to the table.
- Robotics-themed Cafés: In areas like Lujiazui or Nanjing Road, you can find cafés where robots take orders or deliver drinks and desserts. These are usually aimed at families and provide interactive experiences for kids.
- Haidilao Hotpot Robot Service: Some Haidilao branches in Shanghai use robots for bringing dishes to tables, though service may vary by location.
Other tech-focused experiences in Shanghai include:
- Shanghai Science and Technology Museum: Offers interactive exhibitions, including robotics, space technology, and augmented reality experiences perfect for kids.
- Disneytown or Disney Resort Attractions: While not purely robots, many rides and attractions use animatronics and advanced robotics that are fun for children.
- Virtual Reality Zones: Various malls like Super Brand Mall in Lujiazui have VR gaming zones where kids can experience immersive tech adventures.
- LEGOLAND Discovery Center: Combines robotics with building and interactive play, suitable for children around 9 years old.
Tips:
- Call ahead or check online reviews to ensure the specific branch uses robots, as it may vary.
- Combine robot dining with a visit to a tech museum or VR center to make a full tech-themed day.
- Check if any of the robot restaurants offer English menus or instructions if your child is not fluent in Chinese.
Shanghai offers a range of options where children can see robots in action while enjoying meals or interactive activities, making it a memorable experience for tech-loving families.
