Hotel suggestion end of November girls trip

Hello TA'ers,

My friend and I have booked a sort of last minute trip to Indonesia and Hong Kong leaving soon so not much time to do extensive research. We will have 2 nights + 2 days in Hong Kong at the end of November. I was looking at booking at Ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island. It seems to be central, is a short walking distance to the harbour front, MTR, tram, ferry and bus so as to be able to get to typical sightseeing places. Does this seem like a good choice for first time to Hong Kong travelers? Looking to keep it to under $250/night CAD if any one has any better suggestions it would be appreciated.

The Ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan is a solid choice for first-time travelers, especially for a short 2-day trip. Its location on Hong Kong Island provides convenient access to the MTR, trams, ferries, and buses, making it easy to reach popular attractions such as Victoria Peak, Man Mo Temple, PMQ, and the Central Harbourfront.

Advantages of this hotel include:

  • Central location near Sheung Wan MTR, which connects quickly to other areas of Hong Kong.
  • Close to tram stops for a classic Hong Kong experience along Des Voeux Road.
  • Walking distance to the Central Harbourfront, good for taking photos, strolling, or catching the Star Ferry to Kowloon.
  • Affordable rates under CAD 250/night, making it a budget-friendly option for first-time visitors.

Some considerations:

  • Rooms are typically compact, which is standard for Hong Kong, so be prepared for smaller spaces.
  • Breakfast may be limited, but there are plenty of nearby cafes and eateries.
  • If you want a more vibrant nightlife scene or shopping-focused stay, Central is convenient, but Tsim Sha Tsui could be another option for first-timers who prefer staying closer to the harbour and Kowloon shopping areas.

Alternative suggestions under CAD 250/night:

  • Mini Hotel Central: Also centrally located with small but modern rooms.
  • Hotel Stage: Located near Sheung Wan MTR, stylish with a cozy feel.
  • Butterfly on Wellington: Boutique-style hotel in Central, very close to Soho and nightlife spots.

Overall, for a first-time girls’ trip, Ibis Central and Sheung Wan offers convenience, good connectivity, and a practical base for exploring Hong Kong within your budget.
