Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan is known as one of the "most beautiful temples in Korea". Unlike most Buddhist temples built on mountains, Haidong Longgong Temple is uniquely located on a cliff by the sea, combining magnificent sea views with a solemn religious atmosphere, giving people a double visual and spiritual shock.
Starting from the entrance, the eighteen stone statues of Arhats line up under the bridge to welcome guests, each with a different expression and quite majestic. Walking down the 108 stone steps, it feels like embarking on a journey of spiritual practice. Along the way, you will pass by the Budu Gate, the Main Hall, the Reclining Buddha, the Buddha Bathing Area, etc. The most impressive is the "Sea Water Guanyin Buddha" standing on the seashore, facing the boundless sea, with extraordinary momentum.
Although it was a holiday and there were many people and it was a little noisy, I could still feel the vitality and solemnity of the temple as a center of faith. It is said that the sunrise in the early morning is even more beautiful. If you can get up early and go there, you will be able to experience another kind of tranquil beauty.
However, we must remind everyone that there are too many stairs here, which is not suitable for travelers with bad knees and baby strollers. In terms of transportation, it is recommended to take the East China Sea Line of the subway and then take a taxi, which saves time and effort than waiting for the bus or walking.
Whether you love religious culture or simply appreciate the natural beauty, Haedong Yonggung Temple is a stop not to be missed during your trip to Busan.
