The biggest thing I noticed after my trip to Fukuoka was that while it's not a large city, it packs a lot of punch. ๐ Even with a short trip, I was able to experience both the urban charm and small-town feel, which makes me want to go back again.
โ Tips
โข The weather can be unpredictable in summer ๐ฆ๏ธ โ A small umbrella is a must!
โข There are still quite a few stores that only accept cash, so bring Japanese yen with you ๐ด.
โข I recommend a hotel with a view of the Nakasu River. The night view is truly... beyond words ๐
โข For department store shopping, head to Iwataya, and for various sightseeing spots and cafes, head to Canal City!
โข At night, enjoy a drink like a local at the Nakasu Yatai Street for the perfect atmosphere ๐ถ๐ข
โ Recommended Spots
1. Nakasu River Nighttime Stroll โ Your romantic Fukuoka experience is complete here ๐. 2. Ichiran Ramen Main Branch โ A grand exterior + consistent flavor ๐.
3. Yoshizuka & Hakozaki โ A neighborhood with few tourists, offering a local feel.
4. Mangyoji Temple โ Enjoy a quiet stroll and a Japanese atmosphere without the crowds.
5. Don Quijote Hakozaki Branch โ Shopping, purikura, and a bowling alley all in one building ๐๏ธ๐ณ
Unlike the glitz and glamour of Tokyo, Fukuoka was a simple yet memorable trip. Rather than just visiting the tourist spots, the memories I made while exploring the neighborhood were even more memorable. ๐
