Anything for Toddlers
Not sure why but my family rented a place for 2 nights this weekend and there is a 3 and a 5 and 1/2 year old. Any recommendations on what, where to go?
TIA
Temecula is well-known for its wineries and beautiful scenery, but it also has several activities suitable for toddlers that can keep little ones entertained for a short family trip.
Here are some ideas for things to do with a 3-year-old and a 5-and-a-half-year-old:
- Temecula Children's Museum: A small, interactive museum designed for young children. It has hands-on exhibits, play areas, and opportunities for creative activities.
- Pechanga Resort & Casino’s Family-Friendly Activities: While the casino itself is adult-oriented, Pechanga occasionally hosts family-friendly events and outdoor spaces that can be fun for kids.
- Old Town Temecula: Walking around Old Town can be enjoyable for toddlers. There’s plenty of open space for them to explore, some candy shops, and occasionally live street performers that can be fun to watch.
- Local Parks: Consider visiting parks with playgrounds such as Ronald Reagan Sports Park or Temecula Community Park. Both have toddler-friendly play structures and open spaces for running around.
- Butterfly Farm or Petting Zoos nearby: Check for seasonal or local farms that allow interaction with animals. Children usually love seeing and sometimes feeding small animals.
- Hot Air Balloon Rides (optional, age permitting): Some companies have tethered balloon experiences suitable for young kids, though this depends on height and age restrictions.
Additional tips:
- Bring snacks, water, and sunscreen for outdoor activities, as toddlers need frequent breaks and hydration.
- Plan shorter activities since young children may tire quickly; 1–2 major activities per day is usually plenty.
- Check opening hours and any age restrictions in advance, as some places may have limited access for very young children.
Even though Temecula is better known for wine tasting and scenic drives, with a little planning, it can be a fun short getaway for families with toddlers by focusing on parks, museums, and interactive attractions.
