If you also want to chase this weeping cherry fairy, here are some practical notes about Daigoji Temple for you~ (I have walked the blood and tears road and share it with you)
Useful Information | Cherry Blossom Viewing Notes at Daigoji Temple
Transportation
From Kyoto Station: Take the Tozai Subway Line to Daigo Station and walk about 10-15 minutes to Daigo-ji Temple.
From Nara: Take the Kintetsu or JR to Kyoto Station, then transfer to the subway (the whole journey takes about 1.5 hours)
Ticket price (2025 cherry blossom viewing season)
Spring Cherry Blossom Special Ticket: 1,500 yen (includes Garan-in Temple + Reiho-kan Temple + Sanbo-in Temple)
The Lingbao Pavilion's limited weeping cherry blossoms are in this area, so if you want to see them, you have to come in!
Best photo spots
The garden area in front of the five-story pagoda: The cherry blossoms and the pagoda give you the feeling that "this photo was taken in Japan."
Stone steps in front of the Golden Hall + cherry blossoms: a very ancient temple aesthetic atmosphere.
The large weeping cherry trees in Lingbao Pavilion bloom the latest and are the most stunning (but also the most crowded).
Sanbaoin Garden or French Café: Sit down and take photos + the light is beautiful, suitable for taking a break and taking photos of life.
Recommended time to enjoy the flowers
Enter the park as soon as it opens at 9:00 a.m. (less crowded, softer light)
Avoid 11:00–14:00 (peak hours for tour groups and crowds)
Remark
It is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. The temple area is quite large and you need to keep walking around to find flowers.
There is a toilet in Daigoji Temple, but the queue is long when there are many people.
There aren't many seats in the cafe, so if it's full, takeout is recommended.
