Arashiyama is a must-visit sightseeing spot in Kyoto, and we definitely didn't want to miss it! 🌳🏞️ We skipped the Sagano train and boat tours, opting for a peaceful and relaxing stroll instead. Arriving at Hankyu Arashiyama station in the morning, we enjoyed the calm atmosphere before the crowds arrived.
We wandered across the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, explored the serene Tenryu-ji Temple, and marveled at the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. 🛍️ We also enjoyed shopping on the streets, trying local street food, and admiring the colorful kimono fabrics at the Kimono Forest outdoor art installation.
As the afternoon wore on, the crowds increased, and the bamboo forest became quite crowded, making it difficult to take photos. 📸 So, we'd definitely recommend coming early to enjoy the town's peaceful atmosphere. Our relaxed pace allowed us to soak in the town's charm, and we didn't feel rushed at all. With senior members in our group, we prioritized a leisurely itinerary to ensure everyone felt comfortable and relaxed. 🌟 The cute purple Randen tram to Shijio Omiya station made up skipping the Sagona train 😉.
If you have more time, you might want to explore more attractions, but for us, this pace was perfect.
