Hidden in the valleys of Nantou is a serene retreat

While many people are enthusiastic about traveling to Japan to visit famous temples and shrines, if time doesn't permit, there's no need to go far!

Nestled in the mountains of Lugu is a retreat called Dahua Yan Temple. The term "Aranya" is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word, meaning a Buddhist temple. Here, mornings are shrouded in mist, the daytime scenery is picturesque, the climate is cool and refreshing, and the nights are free from light pollution, allowing you to witness a starry sky with the naked eye!

The temple's exterior design is uniquely modern, quite different from traditional Buddhist temples. However, its courtyard and statues are meticulously crafted! The front garden features a pond and rock landscaping, while the back has a Zen meditation garden (where you can meditate under large trees or on giant rocks, with mosquito nets provided to avoid insect bites). Inside the temple, in addition to the main hall, there are a library, tea area, dining hall, accommodations, classrooms, and an audio-visual conference room, among other facilities.

If you have the chance, consider embarking on a journey to purify your soul! The rooftop also houses a retreat room and a pagoda (Note: The rooftop is a secluded area reserved for advanced practitioners and is not open to the general public).
