#April Good Places 2025
"Deshima" in Nagasaki Prefecture is an artificial island. Although Nagasaki is famous for its many islands, why is it still a "fake island"? Because Japan had a lockdown policy for about 200 years from the 1600s, when the only place for Japan's trade with foreign countries was said to be here! So this island has very Japanese mixed Portuguese-European architecture. Now the island is like a large museum, with many buildings on the island open for visits after restoration, such as the stone warehouses visited by Ryoma Sakamoto and others at the end of the shogunate, and precious Western-style rooms from the Meiji period.
The architecture here is rebuilt according to the face of the time, but the retro flavor is strong, wearing a kimono with the Taisho style should be great
