Step into Yubaba's Bathhouse! Explore the Spirited Away-like Scene at Amei Tea House

When you think of Jiufen, the first image that comes to mind is undoubtedly the "Amei Tea House"! This wooden teahouse adorned with red lanterns is nestled right beside the stairs of Shuqi Road, resembling a scene straight out of the movie "Spirited Away." It's incredibly dreamy and full of atmosphere 🥰!

This place is not just a photo spot but also a perfect location to sit down and truly appreciate the beauty of Jiufen's mountain town. Sitting inside the tea house, sipping on fine Taiwanese tea while gazing at the mountain and sea views outside the window, you'll feel so relaxed that time seems to stand still.

One thing to note is that it's always crowded here! Finding a good window seat in the tea house requires a bit of luck. Also, to capture the classic "tea house + stairs + lanterns" shot, you actually need to head to the viewing platform across the street, not just stand at the tea house entrance!

🏮 Atmosphere/Facilities:
The charm of Amei Tea House lies in its storytelling ambiance, both inside and out.

Outdoor Seating Area: If the weather is nice, I highly recommend sitting in the outdoor seating area. The view is incredibly expansive, offering a panoramic look at Jiufen's mountain town scenery and the distant Keelung Islet. During the evening, watching the sunset and the lanterns gradually light up is a breathtaking sight that will leave you speechless.

Indoor Space: The interior features traditional wooden decor with many antique tea sets and collectibles displayed by the owner, creating a nostalgic vibe. Even if you're seated indoors, the view through the windows is fantastic, making it a great place to experience the atmosphere of a traditional tea house.

Tea Tasting Experience: The main attraction here is the traditional Taiwanese tea brewing experience. The staff provides a full set of tea utensils and guides you through the process of warming the pot, brewing, and tasting tea, making it a ceremonial experience. In addition to tea, they also offer some tea snacks like mung bean cakes and sesame crisps, which pair perfectly with hot tea.

While the prices here aren't cheap, you're not just paying for a cup of tea but also for an invaluable view and an afternoon of leisure. It's definitely worth experiencing at least once.

💰 Cost Information:
Tea Fee: Each person is charged a basic tea fee (around 300 TWD), depending on the type of tea leaves. Higher-grade teas can cost over 1,000 TWD, and the fee includes tea leaves, snacks, and service. You can refill the pot as many times as you like and stay for the entire afternoon.

🚗 Transportation Information:
The transportation is the same as for Jiufen Old Street. It's recommended to take public transportation to Jiufen and then walk along the old street to reach the tea house.

To capture the most beautiful shots of Amei Tea House, the best time is during the "blue hour" at dusk, when the sun has just set, the sky isn't completely dark yet, and the lanterns are all lit. The photos taken during this time are the most magical!

🕰️ Opening Hours:
Generally open from noon to evening, but it's best to check online or call ahead, especially since closing times on weekdays might be earlier.
