The ultimate nature experience in New Zealand's South Island

#July Travel Support Fund

New Zealand's South Island is not just a travel destination, it is nature itself.
From the moment we left Christchurch and drove through the Canterbury Plains, we were struck by the scenery that made us wonder, "Is this the real Earth?" The endless plains were filled with sheep leisurely grazing, and the snow-covered mountains in the distance looked like a scene from a movie.

When we arrived at Mirror Lakes, the mountains and the sky were reflected in the clear water, just like its name suggests, and it felt like we had entered another world. Luckily, it was a day without wind, so we were able to see the perfect reflection. It's a short trail, but it's a point you'll regret missing.

As we passed through Homer Tunnel, we were amazed by the coexistence of nature and humans who dug tunnels through the valleys, and at the end, Milford Sound was waiting for us. The Milford Sound Cruise, the core of the Fjord National Park, was a special experience where we could see sea lions, waterfalls, and rocky cliffs up close. There was a light rain in the middle of the cruise, which made the waterfall even more powerful and magnificent.

The wonders continued on the way back. The South Island of New Zealand was a perfect nature documentary in itself, with no place being ordinary.
