Tsutenkaku, located in Osaka’s Shinsekai district, is a great spot for a day walk! The area has a nostalgic, retro feel, with a mix of old-school shops, street food, and local attractions. Here’s a little guide for a walk around:
Tsutenkaku Tower – Start at the iconic tower itself. You can go up for panoramic views of Osaka, but even just being around the tower is fun with all the neon lights and the lively vibe of the area.
Shinsekai Area – This neighborhood has a mix of vintage charm with local diners (especially kushikatsu, deep-fried skewered food), arcades, and quirky stores. If you love old-school atmosphere, this is the place.
Jan Jan Yokocho Alley – A narrow street full of small eateries and bars. It’s one of the most nostalgic parts of Shinsekai, often buzzing with activity, especially in the evening.
Tennoji Park – After your walk around Tsutenkaku, head to Tennoji Park, just a short distance away. It’s a nice spot to unwind, with gardens and a zoo if you feel like it.
Abeno Harukas – If you’re up for some modern contrast, Abeno Harukas (Japan’s tallest skyscraper) is nearby, offering a stunning observation deck with views stretching across Osaka.
