[Osaka] Rinanji Temple, Osaka City

#0YenTravel2025Autumn

While visiting Nagai Park, I came across a beautiful temple and paid a visit.
There was a funeral that day, so I couldn't see the main hall, but it was well-maintained.

Rinnanji is a Soto Zen temple with its two main temples, Eiheiji in Fukui Prefecture and Sojiji in Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to temple legend, the temple was founded approximately 380 years ago in 1645 (the second year of the Shoho era) during the Edo period by Lord Suzuki Saburo Kuro Shigenari, who served as the Amakusa magistrate and other officials, at the request of Zen Master Ban'an Eishu (who later restored Uji Koshoji Temple) to pray for the souls of his ancestors.

The temple once housed a main hall, kuri (kitchen quarters), storehouse, Yakuimon (medical gate), Zen hall, and chinju-do (guardian hall).

The temple now incorporates the main hall, a parishioners' hall, and other modern facilities.
