🏯Ironclad Baoqing: A Guide to Strolling the Millennium-Old Riverside City Wall

The Baoqing Ancient City Wall on the south bank of the Zijiang River is a living fossil etched with two thousand years of history. ✨ It once withstood a three-month attack by Shi Dakai's army, earning it the nickname "Ironclad Baoqing." The remaining 1,300-meter riverside wall, with its mottled red sandstone brickwork, bears witness to the vicissitudes of time.

Highlights include the two ancient city gates: Qingfeng Gate, known locally as the "North Gate," where ferries can still be taken across the Zijiang River. Near Linjin Gate, you can see the remains of ancient defensive "horse-faced" weapons, and beneath the wall, statues of 12 Shaoyang celebrities are visible.

It's recommended to visit early in the morning or evening to stroll along the wall and enjoy the river views. When you're tired, stop nearby for a bowl of authentic Hui rice noodles. Admission is free, so wear comfortable shoes and capture stunning photos that capture both history and natural beauty. 📸
