Gangwon-do Travel Guide - Sokcho Abai Village

If you're traveling to Gangwon-do, I highly recommend Abai Village in Sokcho. It's called Abai Village because many displaced people from Hamgyeong Province live here.

During the Korean War, displaced people from North Korea settled temporarily on the sandy beach, hoping they could return home after a short wait.

Entering Abai Village via a gaetbae (travel boat) was a truly unique experience!

Riding a gaetbae (travel boat) allows you to sample a variety of Hamgyeong Province delicacies, including Abai Sundae (Korean sausage).
