I visited Yoyogi Park in late spring, just as the cherry blossom season was ending, and the fresh greenery was exploding. It was a wonderful time to see the park. The trees were lush, providing perfect shade, and the air was filled with the scent of fresh-cut grass and blossoming flowers. The ponds were particularly beautiful, reflecting the deep blue sky, and there were large clusters of Azaleas adding pops of vibrant color throughout the walkways. The feeling was one of vibrant renewal and growth, a stark contrast to the winter landscape. It was warm enough for light clothing, and the park’s main areas were filled with sunbathers and people reading. If you miss the peak cherry blossoms, late spring is an undervalued time to visit. It’s the park at its most verdant, bursting with life and energy before the full heat of summer arrives.
