Deeply north of Beijing, near Hebei Province, 160 kilometers from Beijing and at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters, lies the Manchu township of Labagoumen. Labagoumen is renowned not only for its unique and enchanting name, but also for the vast, lush, and only pristine forest in Beijing that envelops it. In autumn, the forest shimmers in vibrant colors, with fiery red maple leaves and towering white birch trees. No wonder some people marvel at the scenery, capturing photos resembling the scenery of Kanas Lake. There's no information on the origin of the place name "Labagoumen," but I suspect many villages in northern Huairou contain the character "men" (door) in their names, such as Nanshimen, Gushigoumen, and Duijiaogoumen. This is likely because Huairou is mostly mountainous, and villages were first formed at the exits of valleys. Therefore, in addition to the more common "yu" (valley) and "gou" (ditch), place names also contain the character "men," meaning mountain pass. The uniqueness of this primeval forest in "Men" lies in its pristine white birch forest, once found only in the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains in northeastern China. The birch trees, with their lush branches and graceful foliage, are particularly striking, especially their straight, white, and elegant trunks. The birch forest, in turn, represents the emotional bonds and inner yearnings of a generation influenced by Soviet culture, as if the forest still holds a memory of their youth, reflecting the shadows of the past, echoing the notes of time, and the winding mountain roads they have traveled. Free and unrestrained, strolling quietly along the forest path, listening to the birds singing cheerfully and inhaling the subtle fragrance of flowers, this is the Huangjiawan Ecological Park, located in Huangdianzi Village, Labagoumen Manchu Autonomous Township, in the northernmost part of Huairou District, Beijing.

Make a pot of tea

Sit in the sunset

Savor a quiet time

Have a few glasses of wine

Toast the joys and sorrows of life

Let the memories fade away

Invite a few friends for a big meal

Foodies are not guilty

Only when you are full can you have the energy to lose weight

Not for anything else.

Just for the wild mushrooms and wild vegetables in the mountains

The rainbow trout that is abundant in Huairou

And the various barbecues that Brother Huang personally prepared for everyone

In the dead of night, it is a kind of unrestrained freedom,

Everything is settled, it is a transcendent enjoyment, because the heart is full of yearning for freedom.

The moonlight filled the earth. The woods in the distance were covered with silver light. Thick shadows were cast in the forest. Silence and solemnity weighed on the area.

Not only can you enjoy farm-style dishes here, but you can also enjoy a variety of barbecue options, including roasted whole lamb, roasted lamb legs, roasted rainbow trout, grilled skewers, chicken wings, and seasonal vegetables. A self-service barbecue service is also available. We especially recommend Huangjiawan Resort's breakfast, and the Halahai porridge is absolutely amazing. We can't say for sure; you have to experience it for yourself!

At this moment, Huangjiawan is ablaze with lights.

Under the hazy moonlight, I let my thoughts fly, conveying all my longing through my fingertips, dissolving them into these lines of words, drifting with the wind to you far away.

Driving: From Beijing, take the Jingcheng Expressway, exit No. 14 Huairou, and continue north along National Highway G111 (Jingjia Road) (passing Yanqi Lake, Qinglong Gorge, and Tanghekou). Exit Jingjia Road at Labagoumen Township Government (signposted). Then, proceed west past the township government entrance, passing five natural villages to Huangdianzi.

Bus: From Dongzhimen, take bus No. 916 to Huairou County. From Huairou Yujiayuan, take bus No. 936 to Tanghekou (every 20 minutes). Buses from Tanghekou to Labagoumen Town run every hour. Buses depart from Huairou Yujiayuan Station at 11:00 AM and 3:20 PM, directly to Sunzhazi and Huangdianzi villages.
