Wild Elephant Valley is a classic that cannot be ignored in Xishuangbanna tourism. As a tourist, I also took the wonton baby to this scenic spot located in the tropical rainforest of Jinghong City, with the main purpose of exploring wild Asian elephants.
To my surprise, I didn't encounter the cute wild elephant herd in the advertisement, and I couldn't even see their shadows;
Unexpectedly, at an unexpected time in the itinerary, we accidentally discovered another fairy secret place in the scenic spot, and even saw an incredible scene that subverted common sense during the visit.
Second probe and find the creatures in the waste paper pile
The butterfly pavilion located in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area is the end of this journey of discovery. Not all times of the time you visit, you will see a magical sight. We were fortunate to witness the spectacle on the way back to the gate of the scenic spot, passing by and entering the museum for the second time.
At around 4 p.m., it was the most popular elephant show time in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area, and everyone gathered at the performance venue, and there were almost no tourists in the butterfly hall.
At this time, stepping into the butterfly pavilion, the sky was full of flocks of butterflies, which were obviously more spectacular than when they first entered.
Along
path hidden among the flowers, we came to the deepest part of the butterfly house, in front of the secret room where the butterflies hatched, and found the source of a dense colony.
The staff is taking advantage of the fewer tourists to "fly" the newborn butterflies. Watching from a distance, I saw the staff waving one hand in the air, and between swinging up and down, a flock of butterflies rushed out of their hands. At first glance, the staff seemed to be holding a magic wand, and when there was a little air there, the air became an elf, as if it were alive.
When I got closer and took a closer look, I found that there was another mystery.
In the hands of the staff, it turned out to be stacks of "small notebooks" cut and bound from scrap newspapers. Those butterflies that were artificially hatched were placed in a bookmark style and were clipped into the pages of these newspapers one by one. When it reaches the moment of maturity, it is taken to the museum and released. This produces the effect of butterflies dancing in the flock mentioned above.
If you don't know the effect of the scene, you might as well make up for the hundreds of pages of books, each page is sandwiched with bookmarks, and you swing the whole book in the air, and the bookmarks will fly and fall. This scene is very shocking, with a sense of déjà vu of film and television special effects. It is obviously an old newspaper, but there are hundreds or thousands of butterflies, waving their beautiful wings and standing out.
Artificially hatched butterflies are formed from piles of waste newspapers, which has indeed subverted our understanding from primary school biology textbooks.
From eggs, to larvae, cocoons, and finally to emerge into butterflies, this natural process has been arranged by inherent cognition in natural environments such as trees; Even if you know about the existence of artificial hatching, you will imagine this process as taking place in a simulated greenhouse or environment, but what you never expect is the waste newspaper that we are most familiar with, full of ink.
Unfortunately, the time was in a hurry, and I couldn't learn more about it with the staff at that time, so I searched for relevant information on the Internet after returning home, and it was estimated that it was to use the absorbency of newspapers to provide a dry and warm incubation environment for young butterflies.
Of course, if you have more accurate relevant knowledge, you are especially welcome to popularize science for you in the comment area.
In fact, in addition to lamenting the magic of this scene, what makes me even more unforgettable is that the moment of releasing the butterfly is also the intersection of life and death.
Thebutterflies flying in the museum are all winners who successfully challenge the living conditions and can finally spread their wings and soar; On the path we walked along the road, there were also many unsurvivable corpses lying quietly, and the second they were released, the life that had just begun came to an end, the last second was the take-off of survival, and the next second was the fall of death.
The wonton baby was very excited to watch the butterflies fly, chasing the newborn butterflies that had successfully escaped from the nest, and jumping up and down happily in the museum, which is the child's keen sense of vitality; As a mother, I pay attention to those other lives on earth, which is how adults perceive death.
Life and death, youth and growth, butterfly life and life are so clearly reflected.
At first glance, the landscape of butterflies in the newspaper pile of the fairy secret realm of butterflies
isnot something that can be encountered in the butterfly museum. So, is this butterfly pavilion still worth visiting?
For me, who is against elephant performances, this is the most worthwhile attraction in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area when you can't meet the elephant herd. Especially parents with babies, or MMs who want to pose in a concave shape.
The butterfly house is arranged as a Wizard of Oz full of flowers and plants, and a large number of butterflies are also cultivated in the museum through artificial hatching. Therefore, even if we don't choose to go at the wrong peak, it is absolutely no problem to watch the butterfly flock flying around us.
There are many species of butterflies bred in the museum, and we even observed the rare dead leaf butterfly up close. This is a butterfly shaped like a dead leaf, and even if you stop next to the display area, you will have a hard time distinguishing it from a withered yellow leaf. When the tour guide explained the dead leaf butterfly in detail, I was relieved that this trip gave the young baby a chance to learn more about living things.
Although I went during other time slots, there was a lot of traffic at the butterfly pavilion. But flowers, green leaves, and butterflies are indeed excellent materials for taking beautiful photos, which should not be missed.
