1. Transportation: We flew from Chengdu to Kunming, then transferred to Banna (we chose Xiangpeng, a budget-friendly flight from Kunming to Banna, for 170 RMB per person, but luggage had to be checked, so a small suitcase cost 230 RMB for two people). Returning from Banna, we also flew from Banna to Kunming, then transferred to Chengdu.
For our trip in Banna, we mostly used Didi or chartered a car. The off-season fares were reasonable and affordable. For chartered cars, a business car for 5-7 people is more cost-effective, but 400 RMB for two people is a bit pricey!
2. Accommodation: Wanda Vista Resort Hotel, Xishuangbanna. We stayed at the hotel until midnight every day, then washed up and went to bed.
3. Of course, we couldn't skimp on food. We ate and drank a lot every day, except for our evening meal, which cost about 100-150 RMB per person.
On June 14th, I arrived in Banna from Kunming at noon. The flight took one hour, and the airport to the hotel took 30 minutes.
The former Dai King's Imperial Garden was more beautiful than I had imagined and well worth a visit. It was a few kilometers from the hotel. After dropping off my belongings at the hotel, I took a Didi Didi there at 3 pm. It was a quick tour, taking about an hour and a half. The entrance fee was 40 yuan. There are many travel photos in the park. The girls are in great shape, and their national costumes show off their slim waists. I'm so envious. Almost every girl is followed by a guy taking photos.
The Zong Buddhist Temple is not big and we finished visiting it quickly. Of course, we didn’t go to the release pond (it is said that if you release something, you can’t eat it, so I could only release snakes), nor did we take a boat ride or watch any performances.
After visiting Manting Park, I was very hungry, so I stopped by a roadside Laos Café for a drink. It started raining right after I sat down, but thankfully it cleared up a few minutes later! This place is good, not too sweet. I had originally planned to eat at a local place called Maza BBQ, which is said to be popular with locals. When I got there, I found out they didn't open until 7:30 PM, so I had to wait for two hours. So, forget it, I went to Gaozhuang for a walk.
Dajin Pagoda Temple in Jinghong City, no ticket is required, just check the health code and wear a mask to enter.
The internet celebrity restaurant, Manfeilong BBQ in the scenic area, to be honest, the taste is just average.
A complaint about the power banks in the scenic area. It is difficult to find a place to return them after borrowing them! I borrow one every afternoon, and it costs more than 30 yuan in a few hours. The key is that when returning the power bank, I was beeping all the way, looking for it everywhere, and the positioning is not accurate.
The cold dishes (I forgot what they were called) at the night market stalls were good, spicy and sour.
It was so lively and crowded. I didn’t squeeze into many crowded places and just took photos from a distance. I used my own personal lights and continued to take photos everywhere. I touched my full stomach and was so envious. How do they keep their stomachs flat as if they haven’t eaten for days?
Fruit night market, fruit boats, not many people, I was on the bridge enjoying the breeze and watching others shopping, I was too tired to walk around. In the afternoon, I rode an electric scooter around Jinghong City, my butt hurt from sitting, it was embarrassing!
On June 15th, the weather was overcast and sunny, so I decided to visit the botanical garden.
The hotel breakfast was good and ended at 11:00. I got up slowly and went there, having breakfast and lunch together.
I called Didi, but it was across the county line, so I couldn't make it. When I left, I met a seasoned driver who asked if I needed a car. A seven-seater commercial vehicle was only 400 yuan round trip. It was said that this was off-season, so it would be more expensive at other times. It was quite nice. I spent the afternoon exploring the scenic area, and the driver would wait for me at the entrance.
Only the west area of the park was open. I bought tickets for the east and west areas and an electric car, but was asked to refund the tickets for the east area. The West District is already very large, with four pick-up and drop-off points for the electric cars. It took four hours from 1pm to 5pm to complete the tour.
It was June and the bamboo raft hadn't been built yet. The tour guide said it would be built in July. I checked when I came back and found that Xiao Yueer went there in July and there was a bamboo raft, so the children could take pictures on the Victoria amazonica.
Red Ginger
On the way to the Hundred Flowers Garden, I saw a hot air balloon and was attracted by it, so I didn't go to the park. I tried it, but the wind was too strong, so I flew up on my third attempt (60 meters).
The excitement of getting off the hot air balloon hadn't even worn off when I felt nauseous. On the electric car, the man sitting opposite me spat out the window (it was an open-top, no windows), and spit landed on my face and neck. At the next stop, I immediately ran to the bathroom to scrub my face, and it turned red! I went back to the hotel to get some rubbing alcohol...
The Tengyuan is not big, so when it rains heavily, you can walk under the shed to reach the pick-up point quickly.
On the way to the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden, we talked about Manyuan Village (a check-in spot for "Yearning for Life"). The driver said it was too far away, and there were villages along the way where we could experience the village, so we decided to stop by. The Dai people live a free and happy life.
Go back to the hotel and wash up. It’s almost 7 o’clock. I can go to the grasshopper barbecue that I missed yesterday. I’ve been missing it for a long time. The taste is okay. I can’t get used to mustard and raw shrimp!
June 16th. I was too tired from walking yesterday, so I didn't go to the Primitive Forest Park, Wild Elephant Valley, or Jinuo Village. I just walked around the city.
After breakfast (and lunch), I went to the Big Buddha Temple. For me, this attraction is unnecessary. I foolishly bought an electric car to go back and forth to the scenic area. As a result, the electric car driver dropped me off at the mountaintop park and said, "You'll still catch the car here when you go down the mountain. They won't stop to pick you up!" Oh my... Should I walk down the mountain, check in, and then walk back up to catch the car down the mountain? (Don’t listen to Didi drivers or commercial vehicle drivers. It’s cheaper to buy your own tickets. Our driver told me that it was cheaper. Fortunately, he checked the tickets in the morning.)
Mirror stand. Disposable shoe covers are 5 yuan/pair. It's best not to wear a skirt. If the people below look up, you'll be exposed. It's an awkward moment...
Just after exiting the mirror stand, it started pouring rain. I quickly went to the nearby kiosk and sat down. I ordered two coconuts, but they were too big and I couldn't finish them. One would have been enough for two people!

After visiting the Big Buddha Temple, while waiting for a ride back to the hotel, I saw some cold dishes similar to those sold at the night market. I ordered one to take home. It wasn't as good as the ones sold at the night market, and I could say it wasn't very tasty. But I was hungry, so I devoured it anyway. I regretted eating it now, because I had to go take some photos next... 2019
Photos of the hotel
While waiting to check in on the 14th (the room was not cleaned yet), the big brother put on his national costume himself, which looked silly, but it did not affect his strong recommendation to others to show his fat belly!
I had afternoon tea today and took some photos by the pool. I’m so tanned! I recommend choosing a hotel with a balcony pool. The garden pool is downstairs, so people upstairs can see you. A flamingo with ideas
Another travel photo shoot at 4 o'clock. My face is really getting oily. The boss retouched the photo. Hmm, with this skin smoothing, I'm also a fresh-faced guy.
You have to stand on tiptoe with one leg in front of the other leg to capture the essence of this costume. It’s too difficult. I can’t even stand steadily!
The surrounding area of the hotel is nice, but unfortunately I didn't have time to explore more. I wanted to go to the Dai Show Theater to watch a show, but it was after 8pm, so I usually ate outside during this time. . . Luckily I took a photo, otherwise I wouldn't have remembered the room number when I got back.
On the 17th, I got up in the morning and strolled around the yard. The air was good, but the heavy rain came suddenly!
It's evening again, time for dinner. Today's delicacy is worth paying attention to.
A courtyard restaurant with a design close to nature. The environment is good, the taste is good, and the average cost is 150 yuan per person (I ordered a lot and wanted to eat everything, but it’s only one meal a day, so it’s okay).
Go to Kunming and eat mushrooms, Simao vegetables, Gastrodia ham and chicken, go boating in Haihong Wetland Park, and check out Laotian coffee on Nanqiang Street. . .
1. Jingchuan Wild Mushroom King
This restaurant is good. I have eaten there twice, once for the goose soup pot and once for the chicken soup pot. In comparison, I prefer the chicken one, which is fresher!
2. Cong Shui Lu Pu'er cuisine tastes good and requires queuing, which takes quite a long time!
3. Nanqiang Street Laos Iced Coffee Thai Milk Tea
It's so sweet, just take two sips. . . We were not the only ones. After stopping on the side of the road for a while, several people said it was too sweet.
4. Gastrodia ham and chicken
5. Baisi, it is good and delicious, especially the cold chicken!
6. Haishao fish tastes good, but the serving time is very slow
7. Battered spicy fish, by a small river (the water is a bit smelly, hahaha). When I first ate it, it tasted good and the fish was quite tender. After eating it, I felt that the smell of fried garlic and ginger was too strong (I guess I started to overeat it)
8. Check in to Haihong Wetland Park and row slowly, which is quite cool. Both transparent boats and bamboo rafts cost 60 yuan/hour for two people, and the deposit is 100 yuan.
I have been there before in winter, but there were too many people during the Spring Festival, so I didn’t get in line.
The per capita cost does not include accommodation. I didn’t stay in a hotel in Kunming, so I can’t figure out the cost.
