On the first day, we arrived in Kunming after a long journey.
It was my first time in Kunming, and I was lucky enough to choose a dinner with a strong ethnic flavor:
Restaurant [Laodian Shanzhai·Yunnan Specialty Ethnic Cuisine]
During dinner, performers in ethnic costumes would occasionally sing in various corners of the restaurant, staging one ethnic celebration after another;
This was a wonderful welcome ceremony to start the trip, and it made me look forward to this trip even more!
There are also some food stores recommended by some friends. You can choose according to your personal taste:
🔺Hu Lao Shi Jia
🔺Ke Na Ni
🔺Yixi Gong Mosque Food Store
🔺Grandpa Taste
🔺Daguan Street Crispy Beef Noodles
🔺1910 South Railway Station
The next day, we headed to Jianshui County, the food capital of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
Jianshui is a famous gathering place for gourmet food. Both A Bite of China
and 12 Tastes of China were filmed here. The tofu here is delicious, and you can even sample it!
Soy milk:
Tofu pudding
There is also chili sauce to add, which is so comfortable, hahahaha!
There are also fried tofu skins.
The fried tofu skins are so delicious! I couldn't stop eating them!
If you're satisfied, you can buy some soy products to take home!
You can also try to learn how to make tofu with the aunties.
Look how busy I am.
Jianshui’s famous tofu is of course also due to the water here. You can come to this large ancient well to experience the ancient people’s water-drawing technology:
The local villagers are still using this well, so you can learn from them; they are all very hospitable.
Restaurant [Xiang Man Lou]
Address: No. 63, Annex 6, Hanlin Street
The dishes are very local:
Recommended specialties:
⚪Hani terraced fish
⚪Roasted tofu
⚪Stir-fried rice tofu
⚪Multi-flavored beans
⚪Stir-fried sprouts
⚪Fried glutinous rice lotus root
⚪Wild vegetable peanut soup
Most of them are local dishes I have never seen before, very novel!
Even the side dishes fascinated me, I especially liked their kimchi, haha, I ordered another bowl after finishing it.
The courtyard is also breathtakingly beautiful:
It attracts many photographers. While we were dining, many uncles with camera equipment came to take pictures.
The decorative details everywhere are full of ancient charm and are quite charming.
There’s another restaurant in Jianshui Ancient City where “12 Tastes of Feng Wei” was filmed:
is a representative old restaurant. If you want to check it out, remember to go early as it closes early at night.
In the evening, you can go to the Ancient City Tower to experience the night scenery:
I especially like the moonlight here. The crescent moon hanging high above the city tower is a beautiful sight!
The ancient city tower here is surrounded by a busy road. Please remember to watch out for oncoming vehicles while enjoying the view!
There are some delicious restaurants in Jianshui Ancient Town that you can also try:
🔺Shaofen Laojian Shop
🔺Fuji Cuisine
🔺Zixing Roast Duck Cold Product Shop
Day 3, Yuanyang Terraces Watching Sunset
Standing on the top of the Yuanyang Terraces, feel the shock of overlooking the terraces:
Beautiful view at sunset:
After chasing the sunset, find a small restaurant to eat grasshoppers:
Hahahaha, don’t be fooled by its appearance, after being forced to eat one, my friends all started to eat it themselves. It’s definitely worth a try!
Relax well tonight, let’s get up early tomorrow to watch the sunrise! ! !
Day 4: Sunrise Viewing at Yuanyang Rice Terraces
We set off for the viewing platform at 5:00 AM to wait!
The viewing platform was packed with people! In the dark, professional photographers had already set up their equipment, so get there early to secure a good vantage point.
While waiting for sunrise, I sang "My Motherland and I" for a moment of nostalgia!
It was foggy, so I didn't get to capture the stunning sunrise. If you're interested, you can try your luck on your own.
After watching the sunrise, we went to visit Azheke:
Some original straw stone houses are preserved here, showcasing the cultural and natural landscape that integrates "forest-village-terraced fields-river-sea of clouds". It is one of the best-preserved Hani ancient villages in China.
Along the way, you can enjoy the terraced fields and walk into the country road.
Passing by a hotel called Twelve Manor·Xiangdian, it is highly recommended to go in and visit:
Even if you are not staying at this hotel, you can still stop in for a cup of tea!
The interior decoration is also full of ethnic style.
There are also ethnic costumes for you to try on and take photos. Come and enjoy an ethnic afternoon tea.
The rooftop terrace also has a unique flavor.
The floor-to-ceiling glass fence is for your safety. Walking in a little, you can have a panoramic view of the terraced fields.
This is definitely a stunning view.
Day 5: Crossing the Tropic of Cancer in Pu'er, Yunnan
The Tropic of Cancer is a ceremonial crossing line
After crossing here, you have entered the Tropic of Cancer area. Isn’t it time for a ceremonial feast?
Restaurant [Manhanshao Dai Hand-Pulled Rice]
The peacocks are lifelike, very shocking and ceremonial, and the taste is really good!
My friend also recommended the following restaurants, you can also check out:
🔺Laos Iced Coffee
🔺Good Truffle Soup Beef Restaurant (Can Be Boiled or Grilled)
Day 6: Mandan Village of the Dai Ethnic Group in Xishuangbanna
After crossing the Tropic of Cancer, we entered the tropics!
Tropical fruits are also waving to us, haha~~
The villagers of Mandan Village are very simple and honest:
There is a hard-working weaving grandmother
And Grandpa is weaving a bamboo basket.
Every stitch and every thread is the result of the hard work of my grandparents.
You can also learn Dai language:
I have also learned a few sentences at the moment, hahaha!
The Dai people are most famous for their Peacock Dance. I think the next thing is the elephant foot drum culture that I experienced in this village;
I can be considered someone who has learned to play the elephant foot drum, hahahahahahaha...
Day 7: Jinghong Cave and Tropical Rainforest Adventure
You need to be fully armed to enter this cave.
The first exploration of the cave along the conventional route, with a large group advancing under the illumination of colorful lights.
Next, we continue our adventure into the tropical rainforest:
Follow the tour guide and admire the rubber trees dripping rubber;
Special attention should be paid when entering the tropical rainforest area:
Don't touch any grass or leaves you pass by! You could get poisoned or swollen if you're not careful. Snakes roam the nearby trees. Under our professional guidance, we spotted a bamboo pit viper 🐍 nesting under a leaf. Being timid, I didn't even dare to take a peek and just walked away.
The tour leader also told us about a dangerous experience he'd had with his group, where they tried to pull a vine like Tarzan, but a bunch of snakes fell, forcing everyone to flee.
As people who grew up in cities, we must be extremely careful and not be complacent.
Recommended check-in restaurants in Jinghong:
🔺Laolao Ice House
🔺Aka Laozhai Flavor Restaurant
Day 8: Strolling through Xishuangbanna
I fell in love with Xishuangbanna the first time I came here
