Notes: After returning from our Hainan road trip in our Benben, I finally gave up my concerns about long-distance travel in a 1.0-liter car. During the Lunar New Year holiday, I took a road trip to Guizhou and other places. I had originally planned to go directly to Yunnan, but due to traffic, I retreated to Chongqing. This time, with my son about to start elementary school, we decided to go on another road trip. After much discussion, we originally planned to visit the Jiangnan Water Village, but then suddenly, on a whim, we decided to go to Yunnan. Everyone agreed. Most trips to Yunnan take the northern route, through Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang. However, this time, we chose the southern route, through Banna. Firstly, we had three children and the temperature would fluctuate drastically, secondly, the northern route offered the higher altitude, and thirdly, the southern route offered more exotic scenery. Our choice proved to be a good one, as the northern route was so crowded that even booking a room was difficult.

In early August, the BenBen had already completed maintenance. We had originally planned to drive both cars, but thanks to my aunt's support, we were able to enjoy the ride comfortably, have fun, and maintain our speed, so we drove the Multivan ourselves. A thumbs-up here, haha. See the picture above.

On the third day, I slept until I woke up and walked around. It gets dark late in Banna, and it gradually gets dark around 8pm. In the evening, I went to Binjiang Park (near the Lancang River) to eat snacks and shop.

This patriarch is 88 years old. Look at his teeth, they are completely black. The tour guide said they use soot from the bottom of the pot to wash the teeth. The darker the teeth, the healthier and more beautiful they are. There are big differences in ethnic customs.

We drove directly from Banna to Qujing and did not stop in Kunming on the way. Qujing hotel is much more cost-effective than Kunming. It is recommended that everyone consider this trip.

On the eighth day, Qujing arrived in Changde and rested in Changde.

On the ninth day, from Changde to Wuhan, the trip ended.

A few suggestions:

Self-driving trip to Banna, the journey is 2,400 kilometers one way, and there are no less than 2 drivers. Try not to drive at night. When entering the Yunnan-Guizhou section, it is basically a mountain road, and it is foggy at night; the water source in Banna is generally acceptable. If you have a bad stomach, try to drink mineral water; the prices of Banna’s scenic spots vary greatly, and there are many Check and book tickets; you can buy a lot of Thai goods in Banna, and you can bring some back if you are interested, but don't buy jewelry (if you don't understand); there is a time difference between Banna and Wuhan, it gets dark at 8 pm, and the number of people slowly increases at 9 am; if you have enough time, you can visit more scenic spots; if you want to drive in Thailand, Banna is the only way to go, because there are two exits.
