From late February to early March 2024, during a trip to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, I attended the Mengbala Naxi Bonfire Party in Manting Park. The picture shows the entrance to Manting Park.

The Mengbala Naxi Bonfire Evening was divided into three parts. The first part was the Golden Peacock Night Mengbala Naxi song and dance performance. The picture shows the entrance to the song and dance performance. This new theater, seating 2,500, is Xishuangbanna's first 3D live-action stage. The evening's lighting and choreography were designed by Sha Xiaolan, a world-class lighting and choreography master and the team behind the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. The large-scale performance blends Xishuangbanna's indigenous ethnic minority songs and dances, Southeast Asian folk customs, with modern artistic expression.
Golden Peacock Night·Mengbala Naxi is a large-scale tourism song and dance evening show with the theme of Banna ethnic customs. The whole show is divided into five acts: Chapter 1 "Banna Charm", Chapter 2 "Peacock Blessing", Chapter 3 "Water Splashing Song", Chapter 4 "Holy Blessing" and Chapter 5 "A River of Spring Water". The Golden Peacock Night Mengbala Naxi song and dance performance is full of exotic charm, encompassing the various ethnic groups in Xishuangbanna and the five countries through which the Lancang River flows, integrating history and culture.
The stage effect is excellent. The combination of lighting, sound effects and the actors' performances makes it a performance worth watching.
In addition to the Dai, Huayao Dai, Yi, Hani, and Aini, you can also see about six other ethnic minority dances in Xishuangbanna.

After the river lanterns were released, the third part of the bonfire party began: the bonfire party in the square. Beautiful Dai girls and Hani boys, holding hands with tourists, danced around the bonfire, creating a revelry in a distant foreign land. The Lancang-Mekong River Night Song and Dance Bonfire Party combines the cultural characteristics of six countries: China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It also includes folk performances by the Dai, Jinuo, Bulang, Lahu, Yao, and Hani, six ethnic minorities that have lived in Xishuangbanna Prefecture for generations. The whole show was stunning and pleasing to the eyes. Don't miss it when you travel to Xishuangbanna. The whole show is uniquely conceived and well-choreographed. It is a highlight of Xishuangbanna's night tourism activities. It is very shocking!
