Kunming has cooled off several times this winter, yesterday it was still 13,4 degrees, and today it can immediately drop below zero. Finally, I warmed up to the sunny day that had been heating up for several days, so I wanted to choose a weekend to escape to eat lotus root!
Eat lotus root? It's Chill! For two days on the weekend, we were like new visitors to the city, going to eat our favorite restaurants and go to our favorite places to take pictures.

Kunming

There are far fewer people in the old street at night, and the renovated houses look magnificent on the outside, but those old houses that are still old wood make me feel more flavorful.
Walking down the old street is Kunming's famous wine cup building, located on Guanghua Street near Zhengyifang, opposite the flower and bird market from the early days.

This historical street connects Nanping Street, the center of Kunming, and many tourists from outside the province feel that Nanping Street is one of the must-check checks. In fact, locals don't often go to Nanping Street, just like Nanjing Road in Shanghai and Zhongshan Road in Xiamen.
When we were children, we liked to spend all day in the bookstore on Nanping Street on weekends in elementary school, and in junior high school, we began to invite our classmates to watch movies on Nanping Street, and in high school, we moved to the business district and cinema near Justice Square.
Then to the university, we have to go to Victory Hall every weekend to take the shuttle bus to school, so this old street simply runs through all our childhood memories.
Speaking of childhood memories, I have to mention this alley, Rose and I both have a place of familiar memories - Jingde Lane.
This alley is the main road - Xunjin Street, my primary school is opposite the junior high school of Rose, and students from these two schools must go through Xunjin Street to and from school. Therefore, Jingde Lane is also a place we must pass through every day.
We all know this alley, but we haven't been in it for so many years. Until a taxi, the driver took us through the small road and walked through this interesting alley.
It is written in a book as an alley "pretending to be in Shanghai", although we also think at first glance that there is a shadow of Shanghai here, but Kunming is Kunming, This is also part of it.
Due to some historical reasons, there are also many good-looking small bungalows in Kunming, which are not as good as the streets of Shanghai, but they also have their own meaning.There is a western-style building in Jingde Lane that impresses me the most, with a large balcony, a circular rust railing, and a triangular attic, and I am repeatedly curious about which celebrity this place used to be.
Today's Jingde Lane is lined with sycamore trees, autumn leaves are flying, and the corners of the intersection are painted with beautiful literary paintings and bricks, and the whole alley is beautiful no matter how you shoot it.
Kunming is not very big, if you want to see red-billed gulls in the urban area in winter, you must go to Cuihu. In summer, the emerald lake is full of lotus flowers in the pond, and in winter, the emerald lake welcomes guests from Siberia, the red-billed gull.
Locals in Cuihu are nothing more than night running, walking, walking dogs, and even there were many nightclubs and bars in Cuihu before, and the night was also a place for young people to party.

There are many historical houses in Cuihu, and I bet that 90% of Kunming people have never entered the martial arts hall, this yellow-looking military academy is located on the main street of Cuihu, and before that, I was also the 90% of Kunming people.
This weekend's whim is to see what kind of existence the martial arts hall really is.
I scanned the health code and lined up to enter, first visited several exhibition rooms and learned about the history of the martial arts hall. The Yunnan Army Lecture Hall is a famous military academy in modern Chinese history. In the center of each exhibition room is a large lawn, and occasionally pop-up events are held here, which is very lively on weekends.
Most of the people who came here were tour groups and some young out-of-town tourists, and we took a fancy to the red wooden door, and the scorching sun at noon seemed to return to summer, and we changed into summer clothes. I stopped and took pictures.

If you ask me which old street can I feel in Kunming at night, I would also recommend Nan Keung Street in the city.

There are many old shops in Kunming near Nanqiang Street, such as the sugar water shop at the entrance of the alley, which has been open in Kunming for many years.
The interior of the store is still the same as it was in the 70s. The products are delicious and the price is moderate, and there is no shortage of young people. Many middle school students nearby will come, and the walls are full of post-it notes, which reminds me that my junior high school and classmates have also done things like writing post-it notes.
Nanqiang Street was built more enthusiastically when the street stall culture was promoted last year, and it became a new night market for Kunming people. Although Kunming people also had a night market at the earliest, the cultural alley at 7 p.m. is like a weekend market in Chiang Mai, where citizens drive to set up stalls, office workers during the day, and become a street stall owner at night.
When I was in high school, I also rode my bike to set up a stall with my friends on weekends, and I missed it very much. Later, due to restrictions on occupying roads and setting up stalls, the night market in Cultural Lane was completely banned.
Therefore, when the Nanqiang Street Night Market arrives, every young person is happy. One by one, there were small lattice houses, and several young people sat around the door of the beer shop.
Beer, barbecue, fondue, these foods and alcohols that stimulate the taste buds slowly ferment at night with the joy of youth. At night, Nanqiang Street is lit up, and lanterns are hung everywhere, which is very New Year's flavor.

For many old Kunming people, rice noodles can run through three meals a day.
Breakfast is inseparable from "rice noodles" (the meaning of drawing can be understood here as eating a bowl of rice noodles), and if you want to eat something casually at noon and evening, every Kunming person will immediately think of "throwing a bowl of rice noodles". When
it comes to rice noodles, of course I know that you can eat so-called rice noodles in many places outside the province, but when I went back to my grandmother's house in Chongqing, I ate rice noodles outside the province for the first time, and I could only exclaim that this is Kunming's rice noodles? ! And when I heard from some friends from other provinces that Kunming rice noodles were not delicious, I wanted to correct Kunming's name even more!
There is more than one type of rice noodles alone, and different places eat rice noodles of different thicknesses. Kunming people only eat coarse rice noodles, which is what we call physalis rice noodles, and friends on the Honghe side prefer to eat fine rice noodles, that is, dry pulp rice noodles. The older vegetable aunt in the vegetable market will only ask you "do you want physalis or dry pulp", and rarely ask you "do you want thick or fine".
There
are more than a dozen ways to make rice noodles, just the small pot of rice noodles is divided into fresh meat pot or stinky tofu pot, and other methods are directly capped, mixed sauce or stewed meat.
Of course, one unique to Kunming is tofu pudding rice noodles, and I swear that the number of times I can eat it outside the province may be in the single digits.
There are two time-honored brands downstairs, one is called iron shed small pot rice noodles, and the other is called radish head.
In terms of this foodie summary, the fresh meat in the iron shed is larger, but I personally prefer the radish head.

Kunming was the first street known as literature and art, Wenlin Street.
There is also a Yunnan restaurant that we often go to, and the style of the restaurant looks like a product of the last era. Although there are many branches of this restaurant, my favorite is this one on Wenlin Street. If you go late for a meal, you need to wait for a table, and there are diners from young post-00s to grandparents.
Although his squirrel fish is one of my favorites, I still gave up because it was too thorny this time.

Liuhuan food
The hottest Kunming Laoguandu snack on Wenming Street, Liu Huan. When I unknowingly strolled around here at night, the snacks I wanted to eat had closed early, and the number of customers in Liuhuan was obviously much thinner than the meal. In the evening, I made an appointment with friends nearby for dinner, and the fried rice and set rice were sold out.
Papaya water, brown sugar tofu pudding, small pot rice noodles, canned rice noodles and fried bait cubes are all must-order every time.
I don't eat a few more meals of small pot rice noodles in Kunming, or one thing I will really regret, after all, friends in Shanghai said that when I go back, I can't eat authentic food. The only authentic takeaway comes back for 38 servings, while in Kunming, you can eat for 10 yuan.
The meaning of shaking grass is also a very soulful word in Yunnan dialect, and the most literal meaning is: dressed beautifully or handsomely, go outside to show off, it will be called shaking grass.

Drive past the village and the reservoir, and pass a bridge to reach Dianwei Village first.
There are still earthen houses in the village, and you can go around the village to reach your final destination. Sequoia forest.
Dianwei in January is much deserted, and the surrounding vegetation is more withered and yellow. Although the most beautiful season of sequoia has passed, the aunts who come here to play on weekends are not the same.
We drove the car around the tourists to a slightly wider place, and the surrounding redwood trees were only reddish-brown on the tops, and the whole fir forest looked very deserted.
