In my impression, Xishuangbanna is the business card of Yunnan, but its status has declined in recent years, and it has been stolen by Dali and Lijiang. I went to Dali and Lijiang many years ago, and looking back, I think it's good, but I still want to go to Xishuangbanna.
Before you go, prepare for your itinerary. I have a book "Yunnan In-depth Tour", I read it, the practicality is relatively poor, or in other words, only this book is not enough, because there are very few maps in this book, and I can't find the location of Xishuangbanna in Yunnan from the book, and without a map, I don't know the bearing difference and distance between one destination and another, so it is difficult to arrange the itinerary. Therefore, I temporarily bought a copy of Lonely Planet's "Yunnan" from the Internet (hereinafter referred to as LP, "Yunnan"), and after reading it, I felt that it was very practical.
China-TravelNote's travelogue is very useful, but if you don't understand the destination itself and its location, when reading the travelogue, sometimes you feel that Zhang Er King Kong is confused, and after reading the relevant chapters of "Yunnan", and then look at the travelogue, the effect is much better.
After studying some of my travelogues and the book "Yunnan", the tourist destinations I chose for myself were: 1. Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2. Wangtianshu, 3. Crossing the tropical rainforest, 4. Wild Elephant Valley, 5. Manting Garden, 6. Rafting on the Lancang River, 7. Others. I have little interest in the culture of ethnic minorities, of course, all civilizations are equal, but why are the results of civilizations so different?
Why write this travelogue? Because I have benefited a lot from everyone's travelogues, and I hope that I can help my friends in the future.

Why choose these attractions? Lonely Planet introduces them like this:
1. Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: "If you only go to one attraction in Jinghong, come here";

Now Jinghong has opened up a through train for scenic spots, and these scenic spots can be rounded up on the same day, but I checked, it takes 3 hours one way from Jinghong to Wangtianshu, and the round trip is 6 hours, if you add the shopping column, the time in the scenic spot is too short, so I plan to stay in Wangtianshu and the Botanical Garden for one night each, go out to travel, and live everywhere, why must I stay in Jinghong? Among these four, the most difficult is actually the fourth, because the first three attractions will not move, you can enter when you arrive, but through the primeval forest, there is no local guide, it is best to forget about this.

Regarding accommodation, there are three considerations: 1. Live in the old town of Henan, 2. Live in Shuangjing, Hebei West, and 3. Go directly to the relevant scenic spots. Jinghong has two passenger transport companies, checked their timetables, the latest departure time of the car to Mengla in the afternoon is basically about 5 o'clock, and my plane landed in Jinghong at 5:10 p.m., no drama. Wild Elephant Valley is the only place in China where you can see wild Asian elephants, but whether you can really see them depends on luck, because it is said that Asian elephants "appear once every four days on average, mainly when foraging in the morning and evening", I booked a package ticket for the Gaozhuang Visitor Center to depart at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. (including round-trip tickets and scenic spot tickets), and the time in the middle of the park does not look like the time period for wild Asian elephants to forage in the morning and evening, so although there is hope in my heart, But I don't have too many extravagant hopes.
Yunnan's rainforest is the kingdom of animals and plants, and most of the friends who like plants have the "shape" app installed on their mobile phones. However, I was soon frustrated:
Wild Elephant Valley is a long and narrow scenic spot, the core of the scenic spot is a stream, water is the source of life, and elephants are also born by the stream.

After walking the first section of the plank road, no wild elephants were found, and seeing that the second section of the plank road was also halfway there, there was still no trace of wild elephants. Because, it sounds, relative to the size of the elephant, this voice is a bit slender and soft, at this time, a staff member appeared, and he said that it was the voice of an elephant.
The dense forest where the sound of elephants is heard The crowd began to get excited, and some tourists began to shout loudly, so anxious that the staff hurriedly scolded in a low voice, for fear that the elephants would leave because of fear. After the crowd quieted down, the sound of the elephant appeared intermittently, and then, after the swaying of the leaves and branches, a baby elephant appeared probing its head! People held their breath, and the baby elephant finally came out of the dense forest!
Didn't find an elephant? He is in the middle of the picture, look carefully. Afterwards, the staff told us that a large group of elephants (about 20 or so) have been active in the vicinity recently, and whether tourists can see them depends on everyone's luck.
It was an unexpected surprise to see wild elephants, and I chose the cable car on the way back, and the mood at this time was "the spring breeze is proud of the horse's hooves, and I see all the flowers of Chang'an in one day".
Tips：
1. There are three or four small attractions at the entrance of the Wild Elephant Valley, such as Orchid Garden, Femme and Scorpion Garden, Elephant School and National Song and Dance Performance, Elephant School and National Song and Dance have regular performances, if you want to see, pay attention to the performance schedule, Elephant School seems to be four or five times a day, with children may be interested in watching, after all, you can't see wild elephants, watching the performance of captive-bred elephants can also be regarded as a kind of compensation;
2. Do not take the ropeway in both directions, otherwise, the chance of seeing wild elephants is basically zero, because the height and speed of the ropeway limit the possibility of seeing elephants on the ground, besides, the sound of the ropeway may have driven away the wild elephants long ago;
3. After entering the park, it is recommended not to waste time on the scenic spots at the door, but to take the plank road directly, and pay special attention when walking the second section of the plank road, because this is deep in the dense forest, and the chance of elephants appearing is greater;
4. In the middle of the first and second ropeways, that is, the north gate of the park, there is an Asian Elephant Museum, where you can stay and study.

Manting Garden is the imperial garden of King Dai, which is said to have a history of more than a thousand years. In other words, it is based on a man-made landscape above the possible natural geography, and in addition, it is a royal private garden, so it is more refined than an ordinary garden.
If you compare the natural rainforest in the eastern area of the Botanical Garden with the Manting Garden, you can see the obvious difference, that is, the plants in the natural rainforest grow more ostentatious and wanton, reflecting the "competition of things" (natural selection, survival of the fittest) in nature, and the survival of these plants is only for themselves, while the plants in the Manting Garden are selected and modified, and they are planted for the purpose of decorating and covering, so here we pay attention to the visual enjoyment and the function of covering.
