From late February to early March 2024, during a trip to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, I visited the Dadugang Ten Thousand Mu Tea Garden. Pictured is the stone tablet marking the Dadugang Ten Thousand Mu Tea Garden.
Xishuangbanna is the hometown of Pu'er tea and the birthplace of Yunnan's large-leaf tea. Jinghong is a key part of this region. The diverse ethnic groups living here have passed down the enduring tradition of tea cultivation, tea making, and tea drinking from generation to generation. The Ancient Tea Horse Road converged and dispersed here, stretching thousands of miles to the world. This photo was taken at the Dadugang Tea Garden. Dadugang Township has an average elevation of over 1,300 meters. The township boasts 1.02 million mu (approximately 1.3 acres) of forest, including 480,000 mu (approximately 1.3 acres) of national nature reserves, resulting in a forest coverage rate of 85.8%. This photo was taken at the Dadugang Tea Garden.
Here, it's spring-like all year round, with an average annual temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius. It's also known as the Town of Spring. This photo was taken at the Dadugang 10,000-acre tea plantation.
The unique and spectacular 76,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of tea plantations make Dadugang Township one of the largest townships (towns) in Yunnan Province dedicated to green tea cultivation. This photo was taken at the Dadugang 10,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) tea plantation.
The Dadugang Tea Garden in Dadugang Township has a total area of 43.5 square kilometers. After on-site inspection by official staff of the World Record Certification (WRCA), the tea garden was recognized as the "world's largest contiguous tea garden."
Dadugang Tea Garden Town was designated a "National Ecological Township" in 2011, a "National 'One Village, One Product' Demonstration Town" in 2013, and awarded the title of "China's Beautiful Countryside" by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2013. This photo was taken at the Dadugang 10,000-acre tea garden.
Walking into the tea garden, bathed in sunlight, the vast expanse of green, while not as fragrant as roasted tea, is still refreshing enough. This photo was taken at the Dadugang Ten Thousand Mu Tea Garden.
Pu'er tea grows on relatively tall tea trees.
The older the Pu'er tea tree, the more valuable it is! This is a century-old Pu'er tea tree.
