Ubers available from DIA to Longmont?

Flying into to DIA in May for a wedding in Longmont. We prefer not to rent a car, and wondering about Ubers or Lyfts etc. Are they generally available to take us to Longmont (and return the next day) and if so, can anyone give me a general price range?

I've contacted the Longmont Shuttle service but they are uber(forgive the pun) expensive.

Thanks

Cheri

Yes, Ubers and Lyfts are generally available at Denver International Airport (DIA) to take passengers to Longmont. However, Longmont is about 35–40 miles from DIA, so rideshare trips will be longer and more expensive than typical airport trips within Denver proper.

Here are some key points to consider:

  • Availability: Both Uber and Lyft operate from DIA 24/7, and you can request rides from the designated rideshare pickup areas at the airport. While there is usually availability, it’s a good idea to check the app ahead of time, especially during busy travel periods like May weddings.
  • Price range: A one-way Uber or Lyft from DIA to Longmont generally ranges from $70 to $110 depending on the time of day, traffic, and type of vehicle you choose. Premium options (UberXL or Lyft XL) will be more expensive, likely in the $120–$150 range.
  • Return trip: You can schedule a rideshare in advance for your return trip, or simply request a ride via the app when ready. Fares will be similar, and surge pricing may apply during peak hours.

Alternative options to rideshares:

  • Private airport shuttles: There are several private shuttle services that can be booked in advance. These can be more cost-effective for groups since fares are shared, though they may be slower due to multiple stops.
  • Rental cars: If you change your mind about not driving, renting a car for 24–48 hours could sometimes be more economical, especially if you need flexibility for wedding events or exploring the area.
  • Public transit: RTD buses can connect DIA to Boulder and Longmont, but they are significantly slower and may require multiple transfers, making them less practical for wedding travel.

In summary, Uber and Lyft are feasible options for DIA to Longmont, especially if you prioritize convenience over cost. For a group of three or more, comparing a private shuttle or even a short-term rental may be worthwhile to manage expenses.
