Where should I stay?

Looking for recommendations. My husband and I have been to Denver 1x. We stayed at the Halcyon and loved it. This time we’re coming mid-May and bringing our young adult children 23,21. We are considering staying at the Halcyon again and getting 2rooms. We are also considering Airbnb. Our budget would be $300ish per room per night at a hotel or Airbnb $600 a night.

If we do Airbnb-what neighborhoods should I look for? Loved Cherry Creek vibe but open to anything that has activity around it-particularly for the 20somethings. TIA

Since you enjoyed staying at the Halcyon before, returning there is a solid option, especially if you want a reliable hotel experience with upscale amenities. The Halcyon is located in the Uptown neighborhood, which has a nice mix of restaurants, bars, and walkable areas, and is convenient to downtown Denver attractions.

If you are open to Airbnb, there are several neighborhoods that cater well to visitors looking for vibrant dining, nightlife, and walkability, which is ideal for your adult children:

  • Cherry Creek: Upscale, safe, and walkable with shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops. It’s a more polished vibe and perfect for daytime strolling and evening dining.
  • LoDo (Lower Downtown): Trendy and energetic, filled with bars, restaurants, and entertainment. This area is great if your group wants nightlife and a younger, more urban feel.
  • RiNo (River North Art District): Known for art, street murals, craft breweries, and hip cafes. Perfect for young adults who enjoy a creative, lively atmosphere.
  • Capitol Hill/Uptown: Slightly more residential but very walkable and close to downtown. Lots of cafes, small restaurants, and boutique shops, offering a mix of urban and local vibes.

With your budget of around $600 per night for an Airbnb, you can likely secure a modern 2–3 bedroom condo or townhouse in any of these neighborhoods, often with added amenities like a kitchen, living area, and sometimes parking.

Other considerations:

  • Check the proximity to public transport if you prefer not to rent a car; most of these neighborhoods are either walkable or have good transit access to downtown and major attractions.
  • Booking early for mid-May is recommended, as Denver is busy during spring events, and Airbnb options can fill quickly.
  • If you want a blend of hotel comfort and local vibe, consider splitting the stay: a couple of nights at Halcyon and a couple in a centrally located Airbnb to experience different areas of Denver.

Overall, staying at Halcyon provides reliability and comfort, while Cherry Creek, LoDo, and RiNo are excellent Airbnb neighborhoods for a mix of activities, nightlife, and young adult appeal. Your choice can depend on whether you prioritize hotel amenities or a more local, independent experience.
