Excalibur check-in deposit.
Hey, heading there next wk for 7 nights(long waited trip after Covid!) we have 2 rooms booked. So I know, resort fees have to be paid on both rooms, approx $556 so we know thats ok to pay in cash when we get there but just wanted to know does anyone know how much deposit is needed on my credit card for both rooms. I tried looking on their website and can't see anything and the customer care office is closed at the minute. Just want to make sure theres no suprises at check-in TIA 😊
At Excalibur Las Vegas, like most Strip resorts, a credit card deposit is required at check-in in addition to paying the resort fees. This deposit is a pre-authorization on your card to cover incidental charges, such as room service, mini-bar, or any other extras during your stay.
Here’s what you can generally expect for your 7-night stay with 2 rooms:
- Deposit per room: Typically, Excalibur requires a hold of $100–$200 per night per room, depending on your rate and whether you are staying on a promotional/discounted rate. For standard bookings, most guests report around $100–$150 per room per night.
- Total for 2 rooms: For 2 rooms, this would mean a total hold of approximately $200–$400 per night. Over 7 nights, that could total $1,400–$2,800 as a pre-authorization. This is not charged unless there are incidental expenses, but it will reduce your available credit until released after check-out.
- Resort fees: As you mentioned, the resort fees (about $556 for 2 rooms) are separate and can be paid in cash or card at check-in. These fees are mandatory and include amenities like Wi-Fi, gym access, and pool usage.
- Payment method: The deposit generally requires a credit card. While some cash payment may be allowed for the room rate or resort fee, most hotels require a card for incidentals, so make sure your credit limit can handle the pre-authorization.
Additional tips:
- If you want to avoid a large hold on your card, call the hotel before arrival to confirm your rate type and deposit requirements; sometimes lower pre-authorizations are possible for fully prepaid bookings.
- The hold is typically released within a few days after check-out if no incidentals are charged.
- Having two rooms means two separate holds, so make sure your credit card can accommodate both deposits simultaneously.
In summary, while the resort fees are known and payable in cash, the credit card deposit will likely be $100–$200 per room per night as a hold. Confirming with the hotel directly is always the safest approach to avoid surprises at check-in.
