Burdines Waterfront Restaurant

Hi, does anyone know if this restaurant will be back opened for next yr. Looking to go there in February. Also read that the mosquitoes were really bad while eating here is that true?

Great question. Here’s the most up-to-date information I found on Burdines Waterfront in Marathon, FL — and what people are saying about mosquitoes.

Open Status:

  • Burdines Waterfront is listed as open, with hours typically from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM daily.
  • According to a TripAdvisor forum post, the restaurant “reopens October 1” after a seasonal or short closure — so yes, it should be open again by February.
  • Their own website also supports this, describing a lively, waterfront bar & grill with regular operating hours and a full menu.

Mosquito / Insect Situation:

  • Yes — some guests *do* mention mosquito (or “no-see-em”) issues, especially on the open-air deck.
  • However, staff reportedly are aware and offer bug spray to diners.
  • Some reviews say the insects were bad on certain nights (especially after rain), but others say they’ve never experienced mosquito issues, particularly during lunch.

My Take:

- Based on recent reports, Burdines Waterfront should be open when you visit in February. - Mosquitoes can be a real concern in the Florida Keys, but Burdines seems relatively prepared — they offer spray and try to seat people under fans. - If you’re sensitive to bugs, you might want to opt for earlier dining (before dusk) when no-see-ems tend to be less active.

Hope that helps — sounds like a lovely spot to enjoy the waterfront in Marathon!
