Question about street parking

We're going to be visiting Annapolis on Friday of next week arriving late morning and just hanging out for a few hours. Wondering if their might be any street parking near the City dock or Main street circle. Something within a few blocks of that area. Thank You!!

Visiting Annapolis and hoping to park near the City Dock or Main Street Circle can be a bit challenging, especially on a Friday late morning when the downtown area starts getting busy. However, there are several options for street parking and nearby garages.

Street Parking:

Street parking is available within a few blocks of the City Dock and Main Street Circle. Most spaces are metered and time-limited, so pay attention to signage. Rates are typically around $1–$2 per hour, and meters usually accept coins, cards, or mobile payment apps.

  • Along Main Street – from Church Circle toward the City Dock, there are metered spots suitable for short visits.
  • Maryland Avenue – a few blocks uphill from City Dock, also metered and less crowded than right at the dock.
  • Dock Street and Compromise Street – short walk to the dock, with a mix of metered and limited free spaces.

Parking Garages and Lots:

If street parking is full or you prefer a guaranteed spot, consider municipal garages or lots within walking distance:

  • Garrett Parking Garage (located near Main Street and Conduit Street) – secure and convenient for visiting the City Dock area.
  • Maryland Avenue Garage – about a 5–10 minute walk to the City Dock.
  • Acton Place Lot – slightly further, but reasonable rates and close to the downtown area.

Tips:

  • Arrive slightly earlier if possible; by late morning, spaces near the City Dock can fill quickly.
  • Check meter hours – some areas allow free parking on weekends or after certain hours, but Friday mornings are usually paid.
  • Consider using mobile apps like ParkMobile to pay for metered spots and extend time without returning to the car.

Overall, with a little patience, you should be able to find street parking near Main Street or the City Dock, but having a nearby garage as a backup is recommended for convenience and peace of mind.
