Hello,
Which one do you prefer Crane Point or Curry Hammock?
I’m down here now staying in Key Largo so it’s a little drive to both.
Both Crane Point and Curry Hammock are excellent nature-focused destinations in the Marathon area of the Florida Keys, but they offer different experiences depending on what you are looking for.
Crane Point Hammock & Museum: This is more of a cultural and educational experience combined with a nature walk. It’s a 63-acre tropical hardwood hammock with several short trails, a small museum, and a historic home. The trails are well-maintained and easy to walk, making it suitable for a relaxed stroll. It’s great if you enjoy learning about local history, native plants, and wildlife.
Curry Hammock State Park: This is ideal if you’re looking for a more active outdoor adventure. It offers kayaking, paddleboarding, biking, and hiking through mangroves and coastal trails. The park has beach access and picnic areas, making it a good choice if you want a mix of nature, water activities, and a slightly longer outdoor excursion.
In summary:
For a single visit with limited time, many travelers prefer Curry Hammock for its variety of activities and the chance to enjoy water and nature in one spot, while Crane Point is perfect for a calm, informative stroll into local history and wildlife.
