DC hotels with wood floors

Hi there! I live in DC so I'm not an expert on hotels in town. My folks are coming in and prefer wood floors in hotel rooms. I know The Line Hotel has hardwood -- has anyone else stayed in a nice DC hotel with wood floors? Would prefer them not to stay in Georgetown, because it's kind of a schlep, but open to all other neighborhoods. Thanks!

If your folks prefer hotel rooms with wood floors in DC, there are several options beyond The Line Hotel, which is well-known for its hardwood floors and modern aesthetic. Many newer or recently renovated boutique hotels in central DC or nearby neighborhoods offer rooms with hardwood or engineered wood flooring rather than carpet.

Here are some good options by neighborhood:

  • Downtown / Penn Quarter:
    • Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC: Offers stylish rooms with hardwood floors in many of their suites. Central location near the National Portrait Gallery and the National Mall.
    • Kimpton Hotel Palomar Washington DC: Modern rooms, some with wood floors. Convenient for walking to museums, restaurants, and Metro.
  • Logan Circle / Dupont Circle:
    • The Darcy Hotel: Many rooms feature hardwood floors. Dupont Circle area provides walkable streets with restaurants and cafes.
    • Kimpton Carlyle Hotel Dupont Circle: Classic boutique feel with hardwood floors in select rooms.
  • Shaw / Mount Vernon Triangle:
    • The LINE Hotel (Adams Morgan): Already noted, but worth highlighting again for its signature hardwood floors and trendy vibe.
    • Hotel Zena: Modern rooms, some with wood floors, located centrally and easy to access the Mall.

Tips when booking:

  • Specify “hardwood floor” or “non-carpeted room” when making a reservation, as some hotels have mixed room types.
  • Kimpton hotels in DC often allow requests for specific flooring types, so calling ahead is helpful.
  • Downtown, Dupont Circle, and Logan Circle areas are convenient for sightseeing and minimize the need to travel to Georgetown if you prefer to avoid that neighborhood.

Overall, central neighborhoods like Downtown, Logan/Dupont Circle, and Shaw give you a combination of safety, walkability, and boutique hotels with wood floors, while keeping you close to key attractions like the Mall, museums, and Metro access.
