3 nights dining islamorada

Arriving Sunday 11/19 staying at moorings . Struggling a bit for night one dining - was planning on chef Michael’s or Kaiyo but they are both closed Sunday.

Will book chef Michael’s one of the next two nights but looking for recommendations for a somewhat upscale Sunday option that takes reservations. Thanks

Islamorada has some excellent dining options, and even on a Sunday you can find upscale spots that take reservations. Since Chef Michael’s and Kaiyo are closed that day, here are some alternatives for your first night:

  • Morada Bay Beach Café: A beautiful waterfront setting with a relaxed yet upscale vibe. They serve fresh seafood and Caribbean-inspired dishes. They take reservations and offer sunset views, which is perfect for your first night.
  • Alabama Jack’s: More casual but well-known for fresh seafood and local flair. It’s not as formal as Chef Michael’s, but the quality and location on the water make it a good first-night choice.
  • Lazy Days Restaurant: Located slightly south in Islamorada, it has a polished dining experience with great seafood and a view. They accept reservations and are known for attentive service.
  • Oceanview Restaurants at Postcard Inn: The on-site restaurant offers an elevated menu and a scenic oceanfront setting, suitable for a Sunday night dinner.

Tips for your stay:

  • Book reservations in advance, especially for Sundays in November, as Islamorada can get busy with tourists and locals.
  • Consider timing your dinner to catch the sunset—most waterfront restaurants have excellent views.
  • If you want to include a more relaxed night, some of the bars or casual eateries nearby offer seafood platters and cocktails without the formal vibe.

For your remaining two nights, securing a reservation at Chef Michael’s and Kaiyo is a great idea. Planning in advance will ensure you get the exact night you prefer. Overall, Sunday can be slightly trickier for dining, but the above options will give you a memorable start to your Islamorada trip.
